i was wondering where the best place to mount an amp driving front splits would be... would the boot be an option? cos i like the idea of the following set up:
H/U
front splits
2 channel amp driving front splits
sub
monoblock driving sub
the sub, both amps, and maybe? the crossovers would be placed in the boot... is this possible? they would hopefully be mounted in a false floor, for easy removal for track days or somthing... :)
where can i read more audio tech that isnt filled with nth dimensional physics? lol, im just looking for a beginners guide really... thanks heaps anyone!

You can use fiberglass to make the enclosure for the sub which allows you to mould it into the tyre well or into one side of the boot. Fiber is quite messy to work with and you need to use a breathing mask and goggles.
You can place the front amp under the passenger seat if you don't want to put it in the boot with the monoblock and the sub. Would mean a bit less cabling too.
Common option is to put the amps behind the back seats. I prefer a more stealth install myself. Amp rack in the tyre well or a proper amp rack behind the seats.
Cheap option for easy removal is bolt amps to a prefab sub box so just disconnect wires and pull out box with amps attached. You could wire up some connectors to make it easier to attach and detach the wires.
You don't want to run wiring for the crossovers all the way from the front to the boot and back again. Just mount the crossovers in the doors or dash. Unless your crossovers are like this then there isn't much weight in them. (yeah that big silver thing that looks like an amp is the crossover)

Your on the right track I think it is much better to have a 2 channel amp for the splits and a mono for the sub than bridging the rear channels of a 4 channel for a sub. Gives alot more flexibility down the track with components but of course costs more.

ok cool thanks for that. as far as running all the stuff down to the rear, it was for three reasons... stealth - oe all there is in the front is a head unit )removable dash) and splits - easily masked with a grill.
it provides bling in the boot - having it all there... would there be much power loss cos of the distance? its quite small...
and having all the weighty components removable would be good... esp for tracking/drags etc...
tahnks agaun!

use 4gauge power cable and run it to tha boot, bolt both amps to the back seat, amps tend to dispense heat better if they're positioned vertically, if u put them under driver or passangers seat it'll be a messy and unprofessional job. i think Wynode posted a article in the DIY section for installing systems maybe u wanna have a look at it.

Here's a tip for ya, if you are going to the boot. Good wire can be around $19 a metre (0 guage, thats the thickest isnt it?). BUT, instead of goin to get that wire, make your way down to a tool shop (not bunnings, but one that supplies tradies and the like) and buy yourself some MIG welder earthing cable. Higher currency rating, industrial strength, black in colour, and whats more its much cheaper (i can get mine for like $5 a metre, coz we buy it wholesale).
My amps are under my two front seats, they run just fine at the moment, apart from a problem with an amp(which is another story). By the way, I dont currently have that earthing cable in my car, but in a few weeks I will! :D
VividJazz, that is one sweet looking set of speakers right there, what brand are they?

Are they expensive much? With a case like that I'd have to say that they would be?

RRP $11,999 and no that isn't an extra digit in the price by mistake. I'd say there is at least a grand for that case alone. The incredible precious metals used in those speakers are partially what make them so expensive.
