Red Bull has announced that its second team will be known as ‘Squadra Toro Rosso’ in 2006.

The energy drinks company takes over the private Minardi team on November 1 and the new name – Italian for ‘Team Red Bull’ – is intended as a rebranding exercise while also paying homage to Minardi’s heritage.

Red Bull has also confirmed that its driver line-up across both its teams will comprise RBR’s existing drivers David Coulthard, Christian Klien and Vitantonio Liuzzi as well as GP2 drivers Scott Speed and Neel Jani.

It has not revealed to which team each of those drivers will be assigned, although it is certain that Coulthard will continue to lead the ‘A’ team and likely that he will be partnered by Klien.

Liuzzi and Speed are expected to team up at Toro Rosso with Jani becoming the third driver for either squad.

The other missing piece in the jigsaw is the identity of Toro Rosso’s team boss. Paddock speculation suggests that the most likely replacement for Paul Stoddart is Austrian Franz Tost, currently logistics manager for BMW.
