I just ordered a set of rims for my DC2R with these specs: 17x7.5 +40 offset.
What would be an ideal tyre size for these rims?
Would 215/45/17 be a good fit?

i had 215/40-17 and the rolling diameter was way over.
it will effect your speedo and acceleration.
for 17s get 205/40-17 they are as close as you gona get to stock rolling diameter

thats the exact setup im running on my dc2r, you will have to roll the rear guards to stop it scrubbing, only real down side is it looks a bit funny with fat rubber,
you really should go the 205/40/17

you can still use 215/40R17s, as long as the overall diameter is within -1.5% to +2% of your oem tyre size then your are fine.

for a 7.5 inch wide rim
215 should be the perfect/minimum size

your 7.5 inch rim should actually measure 8.5 inches (total width) i only realised the inside is whats measured when they claim wheel widths.

8.5inches = 216mm (215mm tyre.. perfect :D )

hey guyz this questions gets ask heaps so i figured that i would try and work out the 'ideal tyre size' to keep the rolling diameter as close as stock as possible

the stock integra vitr rims are 15 and i think with 195/55..thats what im going to work with anyway

15' = 38.1cm diameter
195mm/55% = 10.725cm

this means that the rolling diameter is
38.1 + 21.45 = 59.55 (STOCK)
as 'TypeLess' mentioned above u gotta be within -1.5% and +2%
so we can say that the rolling diameter must be
more then 58.66 and less then 60.741

so im gonna apply this to rims of size 16 and 17 only...i dont like rims bigger den 18(+plus there illegal unless u have engineer cert. i think) and smaller den 15(+plus i dont know the tyre sizes :D) so bad luck :D

rim size
16' = 40.64cm
17' = 43.18cm

tyre wall height of a tyre
205/40 - 8.2cm
205/45 - 9.225cm
205/50 - 10.25cm
215/40 - 8.6cm
215/45 - 9.675cm
225/35 - 7.875cm
225/40 - 9.0cm
225/45 - 10.125cm

the equaion i made up for the rolling diameter is (if u think its wrong tell me!!)

rims diameter + 2(tyre wall height) = rolling diameter

measurements must be in cm, 2(tyre wall height) means '2 x tyre wall height'

once u have done this, look at the rolling diameter and if it is between

58.66>60.741 then it is i believe legal....if not obviously not legal

i would work it out for u but i cbf :D

hope it helps...

cheers

why not just go here for an online tyre size calculator

OEM size is 195/55/15. JDM DC2R 98 Spec with 16" wheels has 215/45/16 stock.
