okay quite an odd question...but here it goes wat would perform betta...

question relates to exhaust systems...

brand new header's + cat + catback (never been used)

or

used header's + cat + catback (around 10,000km's / perfect condition)

:D :D :D

lol what u getting dude?!

i reckon they would be the same....!? but if ur paranoid, go the new, cos then after 10000 it'll be as good as the 10000km one

i aint no exhaust expert, but an exhaust is really just a metal pipe...

if both are the same brand and if the 2nd one isnt damaged/dented get the 2nd hand one

maybe in certain bottlenecks there will be alittle carbon buildup...but meh. No difference :)

get the 2nd hand unit for cheaper :)

i'd buy 2nd hand too. unless it was made of mild steel.

I'd say a good quality second hand exhaust is going to have better performance than a cheap brand new one. Second hand helps stretch the budget to better parts.

10,000Kms is NOTHING.

check muffler lining is OK, otherwise no problems..

but as someone said, it's just steel pipe..

yeh, there would be carbon build up in the second hand one

but unless ur a picky a**hole

just go second hand

:)

second hand headers are always a worry, you would want to make sure that they r 100% straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes, due to them getting so hot, the simple amount of torque movement from the engine can warp them out of shape, hit up your local exhaust shop dude, they'll give you the run down!!!

That being said i bought a second hand set of headers from here and have had no problems!!!! Not quite as smokey as new ones, lol!!!

i dont know about warping in headers??...i hear people talking about it and stuff.....but honestly dont you think whilst in R&D they would have thought of that and made the header thicker, stronger, more heat resistant or what ever it needs to be so it doesnt warp....im sure they would build something that can handle its purpose....

ill go a second hand stuff...but thats just because i pov and cant afford to pay 1.5k for a toda header(not that u would ever find a second toda header...) and 1.5k for a mugen cat back exhaust...

Do you really think **Chow-Ping's factory in Thailand has a R&D facility for their $300 headers ??

used if the price of new is substantially more...

Not much you can do to stop the problem with warping headers...

Unless you can design an engine that doesn't move, and headers that don't get hot...

Once they are on the block it doesn't matter if they warp or not, the damn things are bolted on!!! It's trying to fit second hand warped headers to a block that causes problems!!!

That is why they invented flex-pipe + spring loaded bolts n gaskets...

Also be sure to check for any leaks/dints etc.

mate i had quite a few headers that were used. Only thing to worry about is if they fit and if they have any dents.

If they warp then there's something wrong with the headers as they usually designed to work under extreme head expecially the decent ones.

But then thats the only reason i would buy a 2nd hand header. That its a good brand producing good results and i can't afford the new one.
