are hiflow cats all basically the same?

is there main performance differences, or anything like that?

thanks.

price matters, just like headers,

you can get x-force style cats and mugen styel cats...

i got my 2.5in one from:

http://www.capa.com.au/exhaust_components.htm

for around $200 shipped a few years ago, and it has been fine since then :)

oh, and this is like and 'x-force' priced cat ;)

main differnce is material used.

xforce "Stainless steel cats" are not actually what they claim they are, they have a stainless steel coating on the outside to make them look nice.
i'm sure if you went for something more pricey, it would be full stainless steel and would have better air flow qualities (or so i'm led to beleive)

um, the catalyst is what slows the flow, not the material the cat is made from...

yup - isnt the flow judged by the internal size of the catalyst sections - Not the actual inlet + outlet size ?

yeah, size AND quality

this is and example of what the honeycomb looks like (howstuffworks.com)

as long as the cat was high flow design and 2.5in ID, then why change?

Best catalytic converter I have found is from Exhaust Traders in Tamworth, NSW. They have a woven metallic biscuit rather than a ceramic type, exhaust flow is awesome and is the best converter I have used, barr none... Best of all, the metal biscuit will not break if you get it really hot and hit a bump in the road or meltdown if your motor runs lean, etc.
I got a 2.5" one (part number 3006MS) on my SSS Pulsar, about $300rrp + a 2.25"(part number 3005MS) one on the ED Civic, about $275rrp.
Will post some pics tomorrow.

Finally got around to getting some pics of the metal biscuit hi-flow cat I fitted to the Civic. About half way down the page...
