5th gen gear knob removal

Hi all, I went and bought a brand new 4th gen manual gear knob today, and when trying to take my 5th gen one off, found out I cant do it!!!

Someone help me, have they taken their 5th gen knob off?? Does it screw? Clip? Need to take the whole boot leg off?

The 4th gen knob has 2 clips on either side so it just slides in but I felt around the 5th gen one and couldnt feel the clips...

Underneath the chrome collar inside the boot, there is a rectangular section you have to hold still while you unscrew the gearknob off. Else it will continue to free-rotate.
