hey guys just got a g-tech meter n tested it on a country road.. im a bit amazed by the times i got though.. the road was pretty flat.. obviously not perfect. WITH an extra passenger i managed 3 consistent times. 7.29, 7.31 and 7.3 flat. i wanna kno if these figures are a little too good for what my car is :|.... mods: 2.25 exhaust system, 4-2-1 hurricaine headers, simota short ram cai. im running on 15" wheels with 185/55 tyres which are almost bald... i had my 12" sub in the car too... also.. i got a reading of 99hp.. is that supposed to read the hp at the wheels or what?? such a confusing machine

reads at the wheels
its not gonna be 100% accurate and make shure the calibration includs all your junk in the car and all passangers in the specs

yeh did all that but there are no calibration settings for 0-100 times apart from the balance of the meter itself

how could a dc5r get that.... my friends jdm h22a accord got a 6.5 0-100 with an apexi rsm and he has a stock engine.... u cant really read stats from magazines.. its always incorrect..

Every G-Tech reading I've ever seen has been a little too optimistic, I heard the reasons explained once before but can't recall.:)

well professional timing. wat would u expect a jdm h22a accord to get down the quartermile with a stock engine? the stats would say high 14s to low 15s. my friend pulled a 14.418.. and with me the stats i have read on other sites for a stock gsi have been 7.6 0-100 with a q/mile of 16.0.. so my 0-100 would make sense dont you think.. i did pull a 15.500 q/mile...

with the hp reading (99hp) it sounds right. Mine did104 and the b18c did 123hp but I was using the same weight input 2500pound. Did you do runs from A to B and doubled checked from B to a. This wise to make sure your car almost 100% flat.

yeh i did.. i tested that thing about 6 times that day but on different roads.. all the results were a low 7 second 0-100. next time i go to willowbank ill test the g-tech at the same time... and ill post up my results.. by the way a dc5r does a 6.7 0-100

LOL @ another g-tec thread!

yeah man, 99 seems a bit low, since it takes my 160hp at the wheels to run under 6 seconds 0-100...

(i estimate this from racing a porsche to 100km/h, which i beat, so i know the porsche can do under 6 seconds from factory, so i know that my car must have done under six seconds because i beat the porsche)

going to WSID in next few weeks to get a *real* time for my car...

dc4t - you should hit the drag strip to get a more accurate time for your car - it sounds fast for a GSi :)

i did hit the drag strip.. i got 15.500 with a 60ft of 2.298.. i short-shifted right before the line tho.. usually i can make it thru the 400m without having to shift to 4th

Guys...I do agree the hp reading on g tec is a bit "weird"; again. If you read the g tec instructions again. it actually mentioned about the hp is taking account of all things..eg wind resistance at 100 km/h...400m. suspension drags...... as matter of fact it is measuring the " pure" hp that applied on the actual road.

The stock 160 /170hp b16a, is the hp at the crank. But when comes to the wheel at the DYNO you get around 125-140 hp(depends on the set up). When runs on the gtec
it did around 106 hp.

Again, we are using two different "system " to measure our improvement on our mods. Just like we did at eastercreek drag way. The only difference is they are more expensive and more streesful and MORE RECOGINIZED internatinally. The similarities in these two system (dyno vs G tec dyno) is they both measure the "apparent" hp. But we should not compare the dyno fig from gtec to dyno fig from the DYNO on the same car. But rather comparing the dyno fig out of the same system.

I hope this helps. Remember, science is not a common sense.

my mate has a vy commo, yes i know not honda related.
anyways.
we used a gtech, he got.. 13.7-9,
went to wsid, got a 13.8-14.0
keep in mind, it is a auto, and it was the same night.
so i'd quite say it's pretty accurate.

1/4 mile times are quite accurate on gtechs, but your mph trap speed is always out on a gtech, therefore 0-100 times are out to.
