Hi, in the near future i will be planning a B16a2 swap in my 94 civic gli, now atm i got the stock D15B efi engine in it, if i did the swap will i need an engineers certificate for this swap or will they just look at displacement, im in vic too. Any past experiences on this??? help appriciated. :)

finally found what im lookin for, but now i got another question...
Will a b16a2 from a JDM EK sir fit into the civic the same as an eg6 one will? Will i need the ignition from the ek sir? does this mean i will need keys and all that or can you change the barrel over or just use the a eg6 ecu? The reason im looking at a ek JDM series is its newer, how much would a half cut go for?

I never registered mine when I did my conversion. Never had any hassels with authorities what so ever. The guy who bought mine simply took my car to Vicroads and said I changed engines and they changed it then and there on the computer for him.
I really think it just depends on who you get. Most of the time you will need an engineers certificate but if you get lucky, you get lucky.

well i live in NSW and i called up RTA...now as i can remember he told me if your new eng is 15% more than what it is now..then u need an eng cert..i didnt have to get one since i was only an 1.6

someone on here did a diy on the swap and got a Aus spec version fron a ek and said that they needed the ignition from the ek too because the ecu and immobiliser work together? will i need this too as its going into a eg now i dont want a key for doors and a key for ignition, or could you get a eg6 ecu and swap the ek ecu over???
As for the eng cert i will try my luck.....
thanks dan.
