I got an EK1 VT9 with d16y5 yr 1996 engine and was wondering where i can get a mini conversion done??? im in sydney

I know about the new "how much does it cost" rules but ive searched an there hasnt been any answers to it, so how much does it approximately cost?

also if its an EK1 i want to do the conversion to, do i have to replace it with d16y8 head? or can i still do it with a d16y1 head or is that older than the engine i currently have???

i dont think its legal to put an older head on (depending on ur state)

but yeah u would basically be putting a y8 head onto it, and then play with some wiring...


heads only are hard to find...
be easier to source the engine

changing the head is NOT the same as changing engine am i right???

i dont want to make such a big thing out of it, if its only changing the head which needs to get vtec, then it fine, dont want to change the whole engine or a half cut (if putting in a new front cut i rather get b16a or b)

But then if changing head and changing whole engine is nearly same price, then i might do engine.

head and engine are different...

if u can find a head then go for it, it should be cheaper than the whole engine...

but finding the head may be hard

i dont think wreckers really sell heads..just whole engines

spothe, speak to toda_au. His on these forums, best to go down there and chat to him abit and then decide what u want to do etc. His abit busy lately so he hasnt been as active.

im sure good performance centre in yennora could do it for you, but maybe they'll persuade you into a b18c or something instead :p

i just got my car converted to manual there...

never thought about wanting a bit more till around now

its basically putting vtec on a non-vtec engine by changing the head, and not going to a full engine conversion.
