Say someone wants to have a full exhaust system for the little bit extra power, but doesnt want the noise that comes with gettin a full system.

Would geting header/catback and 2.5 piping into stock muffler be the same as 2.25 with 3 hot dogs and aftermarket muffler?

has anyone tried a 2.25 system with a stocker muffler?

The main restricion is the piping diameter or not having a straight through muffler.

A chain is as big as the weakest link :)

So yeah.....no point having a full aftermarket exhaust if you still have a stock (restrictive) muffler

what i want is full exhaust system without the loud noise, therefore hopin a stock muffer would reduce that.

but not sure how much restriction it would havve.

aftermarket with stock muffler, imo is like a 100 storey building, fire alarm goes off, and then everyone trying to get out of the one door. :)

perhaps a dc2r muffler?

Get a couple of hi flo resonators, and straight through muffler. I have mugen extractors, mugen exhaust inc. twin loop. It is subtle at anything below 4-5krpm. However you can still get her to scream if you throw it @ 9000 :P But if you want the ultimate for the street, dont skimp and just add another muffler if necessary.

im currently running a JDM header and 2.5" custom exhaust with stock dc2r muffler.. result = dam quiet and the performance is still there..maybe lose alittle top end imo.

That sounds like the answer. Is the DC2R muffler fairly straight through and what size is the opening?

Use a DC2R muffler these are a very good one and offers very little restriction and I have tuned cars that make over 130kw thru these mufflers.Piping size is dependent on what engine you have use a straight thru resonater with the DC2R muffler and you will have a quiet exhaust that will make good power.

Thats exactly what ive done on my VTIR Integra, and it sounds awesome! Nice power especially down liw - with just a touch more deep sound compared to standard!

would an S2000 muffler be as good as a DC2R muffler?
