at the moment the Mod team is working thru a few bugs - bu rest assured everything will be 100% operational soon.
If you want a good rep on this site - learn to research the correct answer before giving out advice :)

lol no no - its a hint at everyone here
Its best to hush up than to give out unsure info which just leads to others down the line making the same mistakes
All will be revealed soon enough.

Hit the nail right on the head!
Ignore the green square / box you had before as that was all wrong.
Presently we are almost there with the reputation system.
Basically
Grey square/box - You have 0 rep points (default when you join up)
Green square/box - Each box represents 100 positive rep points
Red square / box - Each box represents 100 negative rep points.
Details will be revealed later once we finalise things but at the moment you have 0 rep points. Earlier you may have had 10 (the old default during signup) however I've reset it to 0 and updated everything.
Stay tuned!
PS: Not just moderators can hand out rep points but selected people who know what they are talking about/ppl who build up high rep points (so the system isn't abused).
EDIT: square point value

Just a thought on this though, wouldn't you feel that if someone is branded with the red square they may interpret it as "no one likes them"?? I mean some people percieve these "reputation" systems and take them seriously, in regards to their input to the forum, so once negative rep points are issued then it may cause a stirr between members.
I feel that when you are in the process of selecting people to issue these rep points, you should have to choose an unbiased person who will be able to make an educated decision on the matter.
Just my 2cents :)

Exactly! The success of this system is in the hands of the people using it. Also it will only be used as a guide.
A negative 'rep' point will only be given when INCORRECT or misleading information is posted. Here is what I have told the mods so far (yet to write up a full description etc).

What is it?
The 'reputation' system is used to rate posts as either 'Positive" or "Negative" based on its content in terms of accuracy and helpfullness to the thread starter.
The good thing about it is that you can see which users know what they are talking about as opposed to those who don't based on how many 'blcoks' of 'rep' points they have.
You can decide whether to give a positive 'rep' point or negative 'rep' point using this guideline:
Positive - Post is on point, informative or interesting
Negative - Post is not on point, gives wrong information
How do you use it?
All you have to do is click the little aria/buttons/reputation.gif icon next to the post (under their profile) and select either "Agree" or "Disagree" in the box that pops up. You can also leave a small message (such as "Great accurate info!") for the person receiving the rep point.
How do you reffer to it?
A person's reputation value is represented by little blocks under their profile whenever they make a post. Green blocks means they have a good 'rep' and Red blocks means they have a bad 'rep'. Hence the more Green blocks you have the better.
For example:

How do I know how many 'rep' points I have?
All you have to do is click on your User CP (http://usercp.php?) and browse down to the bottom of the page.
Who can use this system?
To avoid abuse only a certain group of users can hand out 'rep' points. However all users can receive rep points.

Yeah i thought it was funny to see a new member to have less than 10 posts have a green box.

I should have clarified.
1 green box = 0-100 points
2 green boxes = 100-200 points

Yes i understand that but i think u missed my point :)
I noticed a new forum member with as little as 5 posts to their name had a green box. However that was last month and we have already discussed that offline :D

Check your "User CP" and you will find out why IF a note was left by the "rep disher". My logic tells me you replied to a topic , and gave out fasle/irrelevant information.
Try to think before typing fellas !

I doubt it, as Wyn has 35 points, and Ben has 24 points. I think the points granted depend on the severity of the comment and issue. For example if you give a minimal amount of advice, as in pointing out a certain part of an engine, like the spark plugs lets say, you would be granted a minimal point, maybe 1 or 2. But if you were to give a true argument stating a DIY or some kind of technical information, then to points granted would be higher.
Just a thought from what I have seen so far

_Civic_ sorry but that is incorrect.
You earn 'rep power' as you get more 'rep points'.
I'm locking this and will create a new thread once the system is up so that we can have everything in one thread :)
