After failing to purchase the CRX I've come accross an offer from a family member.
A family member of mine has a mate which is selling a possibly 94-96 prelude, therefor being a 4th gen?

Have read heaps about H22A, and what are some possible models for an Automatic transmission 4th gen Honda prelude? Would an Auto prelude of any sort have a VTEC engine?
What possible engines would it have? are they all simular to manual models?
VTi-R? etc etc?

Please fill me in guys, going to inspect the car tomorrow, have not been able to inspect earlier because my uncles mate lives in the somewhere near the City.

Cheers

You can get Auto VTiR's... its just a bit pointless as the auto transmission makes them boring.

Since you dont own the car, your best of going for a manual vtir... which has the h22a.

If your asking what some possible models are?

S Prelude, base, F22 SOHC non vtec, 96kw.
Si Prelude, Upper model, h23 DOHC non vtec, 119kw
VTiR, Top Model, H22a DOHC VTEC, 142kw.

Especially try and avoid a S if you want a sporty drive.

The automatics have the same engine's... they just make it SLOOOW, very slow... The Si and S arn't really fast cars, with a auto transmission they'd probly do a high 16/ 17 second pass.

So there would be a h22a for an auto VtiR prelude?
And it is vtec?

So what are the prices you guys would pay, or the sale prices in trading posts etc.
They mainly sell around $11,000+?

if the car is a vti-R model, then it does have VTEC

gd luck with it all

Thanks mate, I'd just like to know if I'll be getting a good deal or not when he throws the price at me.

Do all S, Si and VtiR models have sunroof, or only higher models do?
This car has a sunroof.

Have been searching on carsales and trading post, cannot find an Auto VTiR at all, guess the one I'm expecting to see tomorrow will be either S or Si.
Pitty :(

If its an auto, id stay away from it anyway, no fun in a prelude.

Aust. Delivered Vtir did not come in auto, only the jap versions come in auto with vtec.

So that explains why there are no auto vti-r's for sale.
Sure, no worries.

aya

okay
Auto 4th gens, are very common, you will find heaps on carsales, just use ur eyes... there are a lot more than manual vtir's

auto 4th gen vtecs are all JDM , and come in years 92-96, Aus vtir only manual and 94-96...

auto 4th gen vtec is NOT slow.... its actually quite quick, not as quick as the manual.... u are getting confused with the 5th gen auto.

basically i drag a 4th gen auto , and i will pull quite a lot at launch and in 1st gear, but after that, 2nd 3rd.. i pull onlly verrryy slowly... don't forget they have 147kw at the engine ...even though they mite have less at the wheels than the 142kw aus vtir.

-auto is boring, but the jdm comes with climate control , and folding mirrors... :) and are also cheaper than aus delivered preludes..

hope i answered all your q's...

All about the engine and models. Thanks

The price? Prices for an auto S and Si are about $10,000+ as I've seen.
Or are they cheaper than they sound?

Auto S's and Si's are easily below 10... iv seen heaps for like $8,000... If your going to be paying $10,000 for a automatic S, you need to look elsewere.

u mentioned that its gonna be a family car... i think it should be the other way around!
the prelude is pretty much a 2 seater (i think most 4th gen owners would agree) no family member would want to get in the back of it.. LOL
but who cares if you're driving :D

erm in MY OPINION
S: 7-8k (92 model) 8-10k (94+)
Si: 8-11 (92+)
Si-VTEC: 8-10k (92 model) 9-11k (94+) (if the car f*ks up, they wont have some parts here to fix certain problems.. the powered seats for example.. cos mine f'd up!)
VTIR: 10-12k (obviously 94+)

i got my 92 Si-VTEC auto (119,000kms) for 8k. love it, but annoyed at when things stuff up cos i know in the back of my head, its an import.. grr

but yeh! what ppl say is true, they are real SWEET cruisers
i love AUTO .. because im not a petrol waster!
MY OPINION ok ppl!

remmeber, if its not immac cond.. start walking away slowly.. unless u are willing to fix the small problems that it comes with

hope that helps :D

What I meant by family car is a car which everyone will be using.
We currently have 2 cars, 3 drivers.

i think those prices for the vtec models are a lil optomisitic

although u picked urs up for 8k, that is very very out of the ordinary...

vtir's are around 12- 15 for a good condition, not 10 - 12 ...

kiss
26-10-2005, 09:40 PM
yeah absolutely true
guess i'll amend my prices to that

in my mind, these cars are getting pretty old, and shouldnt be spending too much on an old car, thats why i had those prices in my head.

but who's to say there isnt a really decent lude out there being sold as we speak.

Those prices are unrealistic in many ways KISS... They vary from state to state.

If i had to put a much less complicated label on it.

S - 8-12k
Si - 9-13k
VTiR 12-16k

Of course year and condition pending, i wont put a SiVtec in there as they were not a delivered model.

yeh i own a jdm si vtec... i'm happy with it man, its got enough speed... Manual Vtirs don't really beat me by much, despite what everyone says about autos... i mean, with a few little mods, i'm pretty certain i'd easily keep up with a stock manual. Anywayz... i picked mine up for 9k, it'd done about 108000k's.

try n pick up a si vtec.
