at the moment i have 195/50/15 on all four isit possible to change the backs to 195/60/15?? i have super lows on as well and seems like i still got a bit of space to go at the back

shouldnt be a problem? anyone have any ideas?

cheers, tofu

not such a good idea. especially on the back. the extra profile will result in more grip at the rear which will cause understeering in hard corners

damnit >.< what if i chuck em on the front :D

does understeer have anything to do with drifting and mountain passes as i've heard that term alot in initial d :)

This is about as clearly as it can be explained

Well firstly it isn't easy drifting a FF car...

When driving through mountain passes you want your car to be balanced and especially with Honda Cars (except s2k and NSX) you want to reduce as much understeer possible. So putting the larger tyres on the rear won't help at all...

thats what I think anywayz...

the cops will rape you also.. TECHNICALLY you're meant to have matching size (and brand) tyres all round. I've had cops try me for having odd brands - same size tyres front and rear.

I think if you're rear is higher than the front with superlows, you might have your springs on backwards. if you put the front springs on the back, the height will be greater at the back casue the front springs have a higher rate as they have to support the additional wewight of the engine etc. put them on the rear and it will raise the height maybe 1-2" over the front's height.

so bedey any other problems associated with larger tyres on the back besides the police?

i plan to put them on the back for a few weeks as i dont have enough bling for a whole decent set and yerhhh... just thinkn if there are any saftey factors associated...

hahah **shakes fist** yeah not really any problems.. put the ones with best tread/more grippy on the FRONT... and be CAREFULL in the wet when goin round corners ;)

id advise against it, as the car will tend to handle differently, especially going around corners.

U heard it alot in Initial D coz you want to have balanced (or as close as you can get) steering, i.e no over/understeer. And as said previosuly FF cars typically have a lot of understeed, what happens is u turn the wheel, and the tires turn, but nothing happens, u keep going straight.

rofl yeh im use to that so i dont really mind :D

thanks guys!

hmm if the smaller ones on the front - theoretically more weight and grip over the front.. now this may cause understeer - but when I have it slammed at the front and high at the back = massive oversteer.. which is fun..

so theoretically it should balance out and i'll be doing 60kmph hairpin turns quite easily?
because at the moment looking side on at the car the back looks a bit lower then the front as more of the guard hangs over (with or without stereo in the boot)

Vt3c, you ARE allowed diffrent wheels fron and back BUT each AXLE must have the same wheel
.'. u ARE allowed diffrent font tyres to the back.

tofu, i got 50 profile on the front and 55 on the back (you wouldnt want a bigger profile as the 55 alread sit IN the guards.

no problem with understeer, but have had oversteer as the ALOT worse tyres (marshals... but the dont wear out) than the potenzas on the front

hmm atm i have 195/60/14 and they are 'just' inside the guards at the back by about 1cm at the most just to give an idea... you still think it wont be ok?..

How far in the guards do they sit?
Is it just temporary? Mine is till the front ones wear so i can buy 4 new tyres.

just spend more and get the right tyre. theres no use buying something u dont need and then having to change again. do it right the first time dawg.
