hey guys, don't know if this belongs here or not, but i just got a cat-back installed and every now and then i smell something burning. i just changed my engine oil and filter, and the engine bay has a stronger burning smell. is new piping meant to burn a film of something or could it just be the engine oil?

thanks.

it's the new exhaust smell.. after a while it'll go away.
that's one reason.

the other, you might have spilt a bid of engine oil onto your motor, and it gets hot and starts burning, after a while, that will stop as well.
so nothign to worry about buddy.

BRAND NEW catbacks do have a smell about them... it dissappears in a couple of days...

when my parents bought a new honda accord euro, the exhaust was producing all sorts of interesting smells for the first week

its kinda like an acrylic, chemical smell right? kinda like paint or mineral turpentine...

i THINK (and this is a pure guess) it might be due to chemicals used in the manufacturing process being burned off from the heat of the new exhaust
