View Full Version : Please HElp!! funny noise on my 94' VTi-R integra
hey all,
I own a 94' VTI-R integra, well lately it makes a wierd noise.
When its in first gear and i take off with a little acceleration to about 3g and back off a strange noise arises, sounds like its scrubbing or crunching???
is this normal?? :(
this tends to happen to most gears 1-2-3 etc....i dont know what to do please help!! any info will be much appreciated!
cheers
I can definately say it isnt normal, its most likely sumthing to do with your gearbox, maybe the synchros are one there way out, thats the only suggestion i can give. I hope you figure it out!
thanks for that "crispy"
anyone else??

We need more information. Does it happen when changing gears only.....or while you are cruising?
More info the better!

Could be an engine mount. But its hard to diagnose this 'crunching' / noise over the net!

My new 95 DC2 I just picked up had a weird noise at 2900 rpm ish, all the way through the rev range. Got louder too. Sometimes I could hear, sometimes I couldn't. On the highway in 4th or 5th I didn't hear it.
Mechanic had a look and fixed it. Turns out my heatshield on the headers was cracked causing the noise.
Initially I thought it was gearbox aswell.
Cheap (and free) fix :)

Naa, it definately wasn't a crunching sound, at first I thought it was the gearbox because clutch in = no sound. Then I thought it was something in the cat (I was close :p)
I'm sure it is a DIY job, but I told my mechanic to find out what the noise was when he was doing a full fluids flush on my new ride, I picked the car up and he told me he found it and fixed it. Looks as if he simple got a small angle grinder and cut off the cracked pirce.

What is the outcome :-) ?
My prelude has sort of the same symptoms.
When moving along in slow speeds in either 1st, 2nd, or Rev, there is this cruching/clicking noise that seems to be coming from the front.
So it usually occurs while the clutch slips in 1st, or after i depress the clutch in 2nd and give it gas.
