Hey this might be a stupid question but is a SOHC engine setup more prone
to engine wear than a DOHC??

thus is there a big difference in reliability between the two engines??

i'm thinking of buying a eg vti but am worried about how long it will last
before i encounter major problems.

105,000 but the last owner was a lady who never changed her oil so the rings were gone but the Mech said the rest was sweet as

i really like the vti coz of all the extra's it has...

really??... good luck with the project when u do go thru with
turboing the lil civic...

well in terms of power/torque... as long as it has enough
not to struggle when pulling 4 grown adults uphill at a considerable speed(3rd or 4th gear) i'm happy...

does the eg vti have trouble with this??

Does not matter wheather ist SOHC or DOHC it will wear at the same rate. Id be more concerned about how a person takes care of it.

as the other ugy said if u are concerned with engine wear u can rest assured that SOHCs are wayyyyyyyyy cheaper to fix than dohcs in the long run

it doesnt makes a difference if its sohc or dohc,
moving parts will adventually wear,
more so if neglected like DLOO1 said

i was test driving some EG's for a friend recently. So SI vs VTI? SI feels for torquey. VTI feels slugish and does'nt wanna go as hard.
But both looks same and both fun cars, either is good anyways.

My B16A has done 22x xxxkms, is turbo charged on 9psi and still in perfect running order.

Am looking at a rebuild, but by choice only.

My f22b SOHC vtec has 280,000km on the clock now, since I owned it 5 years ago. I have not had any work done on the engine at all.

So, I'm confident to say, use good engin oil, change frequently, and you'd be fine.

Besides, I don't drive like sissy too.
