My question refers to this article

http://asia.vtec.net/beystock/honda/civicr/

if u read down into the "table" that compares the diff between b16a and b16b, u'll see that the author, WongKN has listed the following

b16a and b16b headers being the same. Being a 4-2-1 header

I just wanted to know if someone here with OEM CTR Headers can check whether B16B = B16A headers? or whether the author is only referring to the same design and not the fact they are teh same headers

I've heard rumors also that the B16B headers are the same as AUDM DC2R headers

So in summary my question is... are EK9/B16B headers

1. Same as b16a, being cast iron, ugly headers. U cant even see the individual pipes

2. Same as b18C type R in Australia, being mandrel bent headers, u can see each individual pipe, but it still gets rusty brown in apperance

3. Something else unique

thanks in advance

differnece with the b16a and b16b header is the 2.5" collector on the b16b

that woudl be the bottom bit runnign betwen the 4 "pipes" to the cat?

its the hole that joins to the cat

ah thanks for that...

wot about the top bit under the heatshield? can each individual pipe be seen? or is it like stock b16a where all of its in one cast "slab" of metal?

nope. the b16b header is just as ugly as the b16a header or even the d16y8 header.

hey fabe! sold ur car yet?

can u get a foto of the "front of the headers?" where the heatshield is off?

thats pretty surprising considering b16a and b16b headers ar ethe same...always had for honda engineering when it comes to "R" models...makes u think how good the stock header really is

hi ghost ^.^
first of all, thx for refer me to the machanic shop! my car fixed already!
by the way! I brought the B16B header too! but I still haven't put it on! I was suprised it looks so ugly! but I read from some US artical! they comment it very good for bottom to middle power for B16A engine! some of them prefer to have the B16B header rather than B18 R header!
but .....Who knows!
I am going to put it on this week! will let u know how's it go!

well neway,

the reaosn i asked is that i'm currently runnig AUDM ITR headers... soon i'll have CTR cams..

jsut wondering whether i should get CTR cams... my theory is that CTR CAMS/HEADERS would be a proven combination

I hope I don't drag this off topic but all I will say is those cast iron upper manifolds are heavy compared to the stainless JDM piece.

if u dont want to spend much. jdm 4-1 ss copies from DC sports are a good buy.

so you mean JDM 4-1 is way better then B16B header?

the theory goes that 4-2-1 is for mid range whilst 4-1 is for top end range

that theory has since become obsolete with header designs getting the best of both words...not sure if ti applies to JDM 4-1 vs CTR 4-2-1 but i suspect it might because they're both fairly old designs

to me the jdm header has helped me in top end...even though nothin has been tuned...ive done the dyno with ctr and ITR jdm headers..

with the ctr ones i stopped makin power at around 8.5k whilst with the ITR ones i keep makin power past the fuel cut off which is 9k so we cant tell when it actually stops..

How much wud these b16b headers go around for.. are they difficult to source out? is it worth getting these over some decent aftermarket ones? and what wud be soem decent brand preferences?

ctr headers are hard to come by since we dont get alot of eng in aus..but ive got a pair for sale in syd and mini_s2000 in melb..

notorious_ahmie

if u need anything else bro just holla at me via pm

anyways back on topic..the one thing i did notice was the weight..JDM ITR 4-1 headers are pretty light compared to CTR ones as well...but overall you'll enjoy the ctr headers alot..
