A question for those with a DC2R...

have any of you tried to fit 14" wheels over them?

and not just any plain 14" wheels, a good wheel with plenty of room such as the volk te37's

i know the dc2r's come with 15" wheels as standard and the front brakes are 282mm. first impressions would say no, however on my astina sp20 i have upgraded brakes. i now have rx7 series 5 calipers (4 piston) and 295mm rotors. that's inside the stock 16" wheel. no clearance issues. about 7-8mm to spare. for drag racing, i swap to 15x7.5" volk te37's. i get about the same clearance. the 4 piston calipers i have arent great for clearance, so i thought maybe, just maybe the dc2r's brakes will fit inside 14" wheels.

thanks

I'm pretty sure you'd be able to do it man.. My brother has TRD calipers on his corolla sportivo (it came originally with 16s), he put 15s on it once to see how it would go, and he had no problems, so i'm pretty sure if your only going down 1inch it should be fine

They will NOT fit! I had a close look at some front R calipers today and the clearence to the inner side of the stock 15" R mags is around 5-6mm........

you do know that the te37's have far greater clearance than pretty much every wheel? just coz the 15" r wheels have 5-6mm clearance doesnt mean volks wont fit. this is why i was asking if anyone had tried to fit 14" wheels.

like i said, i can fit 295mm 2 peice rotors with series 5 rx7 4 piston calipers (ie big) inside my volk te37 15x7.5 wheels on my astina sp20 and have plenty of room to spare

yes the offset on the 14s dun give calipers let alone rotors enough clearance.

oh yeah they are fantastic for clearance. like i said, my 15" te37's have as much clearance over my brakes as my stock 16's

we are proabably not concern about offset..
more to do with diameter..

offset can be customised/suited
all it is is 1/2 ince of clearnce smaller.

the point in any case is that i cant see it fitting. my experience tells me it won't fit - and yes while i mentioned the rotor and hence assumed people knew i was talking about diameter, also understand that spacers are illegal - not that i really care, but unless u are getting truck transport to and from the track then be careful.

it's for drag racing anyway, so spacers/smaller offset for me dont matter

^^ so ur planning on fitting 14's on the back i assume?

i know space savers (yellow spare tyres) fit on dc2 rears.. dc2 rears are same as dc2r's no?

for the fronts to get higher sidewall drag slicks for better traction and lower rotational weight

ohhh hahaha
sorry i misundertood
i thought u wanted to put space savers on the back...
no where the hell i get that idea from.... dont mind me... just trolling thru OH ahaha
