Had a 2 channel MTX a couple of years ago. Didn't have alot of power. They quote their specs at 14.4V instead of 12 and with 1% distortion to make bigger numbers (so does Alpine).

Does anyone have a battery that puts out 14.4V constantly while running their amps, stereo and the rest of the cars electrical system?

Crossfire quote all their amps at 12.5V and 0.02% distortion and state that output at 14.4V would be 20% higher. So working backwards deduct at least 30% from the RMS figures quoted by MTX to bring it back to real world voltage and equivalent distortion levels. So their MXA4002 2x100W RMS amp would have less power than a VR302 2x75W RMS Crossfire. When you look at this way MTX don't offer very good value for money in amps.

Look at Audison, Crossfire, Digital Designs, Phoenix Gold, Treo, Tru-Tech and Zapco for amps.

the road thunder series of mtx amps arent that bad to be honest i was using a four channel mtx road thunder which was 550 watts and it was running my single 12inch sub and yes it did sound good...although if you had a mtx amp id be running all mtx stuff ive heard to many stories about mtx not being a good brand to mix wif others in your sound system...well thats just my 2c

For the price you can get yourself a much better quality amp. Like some of the brands that vividjazz mentioned in his post. :)
