With cars there are so many variables. It could be a number of problems all contributing, or just one. You may have a leak in your fuel system somewhere, possibly fuel line? Id assume if your injectors were clogged you would be running on the lean side of things rather than rich.

Do as benj suggested and tell us if things have improved.

maybe ur neighbour is stealing ur petrol at night?

ur odometer died 1/2 tank?

u got a big hole in ur petrol tank?

BP is ripping u off and only giving u 20liters rather than 40?

i cant think of any other stupid ideas

Check your fuel pressure regulator as well, if it is not returning fuel to the tank as per normal, you will be squirting more fuel into motor, making it run rich.

What he said...:D

Seriously, I get 450 to a tank in my VTi-R if I absolutely cane the thing and get 500+ kays per tank out of it routinely.

Something is definitely seriously wrong with your car and I would say with fuel consumption that poor it would be pretty obvious something was wrong based on the way the car smelt or drove (not just how long it is between fill-ups).

how do you drive? do you squirt vtec everywhere you go?

i get about 600+ to a full tank on my si, though its mostly hwy'ish.

I seriously think BP Ultimate might be good in terms of Performance, but personally I like Caltex Vortex as a better overall fuel for my car (EK CXi). I pay about $38 for 30 Litres of Vortex and get 420Km's week in week out.
And I drive about 60+kms everyday!!!
Reset your ECU might be the 1st thing you should do!!!

400 is like max with n/a car with full exhaust with CAI. (well honda's 1.6L anyways )
probably could push it to 450 but i love my car too much to make it drink crud on the bottom of the tank.
HWY driving you get 400kms + maybe your driving a boosted skyline r34GTR and you dont know it ?

maybe its the fuel station u go to. i heard that petrol has a shelf life of around 2 weeks. i use Mobil synergy for my delsol and get on average about 400-450 oh and i always find that other petrols burn quickly. (caltex vortex is only 95 ron)

^^v
07-11-2005, 09:06 PM
wot kinda driving do u do?
if most of your journeys are done over short distances (say regular trips <10km's)... it can drastically effect how many km's u get out of a tank...
keep that in mind before u go replacing unnecessary parts...

my auto ek1 goes to about 420 average go get it check u sure it's the needle?
also try this.. i know my car's fuel tank open (that hole u stick the petrol thingy in to refuel) has some problems and it sometimes stop the fuel comin in my making the fueler click.. i have to twist the thingy abit to get it fuel up.. but i dunno dats my car.. dats the reason why i though my car is running rich but infact it's just me not having petrol fill in properly...

you should pour a full tank. drive til whenever. then re-pour a full tank, note the amount of litres it took. use that amount and the tripmeter count to calculate your km/l

I did that on a big trip once and got an avg of 8.4 litres per 100km.

On my last fill my avg was 18 litres per 100km lolz.

why be scared, the fuel pump sucks fuel from the bottom of the tank whether its full or empty, its going to suck the same either way so dont believe all the crud rumours flying around

hey. didnt want to start up a new thread. but someone please heLP

i own a Honda Civic VTiR Hatch. its uses a 45L tank. i have gone through several tanks of petrol, and the kms are pissing me off of hte latest tank. i've also read wyn's fuel economy thread, http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30815&highlight=fuel+consumption
and followed his guidlines, there was improvement, but this latest tank is F'd up hard . okay. heres the deal

usually, i get about 450kms before the light comes on (using 98RON fuel)
i filled up to the top, a FULL tank, then drove to bondi , came back (roughly 130kms)and it was almost half a tank. the needle was just sitting above the halfway mark. i just did a major service 2000kms ago, but hanny's did not change the sparkies. my car is completely stock. no mods. tyre pressure was 34psi, but i have one tyre with a nail in it. so im regularly checking my tyre pressure.

well i have almost finsihed this tank. the light came on and i have only driven 315kms. what is sucking up my fuel?

and also. i have only VTEC'd it ONCE on this tank. LOL. i have purposely driven conservatively on this tank. usually shift aroudn the 3k mark

i know it might sound silly. but is the fuel return hose kinked or squashed at all? Once i accidentally kinked the fuel return hose and my wideband was reading under 10. That could explain the poor fuel millage. Bad O2 sensor could give you poor fuel millage too, but thats usually only 20-30kms a tank tho

Limbo
27-12-2005, 08:51 AM
run fuel from a regular place where you note that the fuel is good. Then do all the services on the car and you should note the fuel you used based on how much you actually fill back in the car and check this against the milage.

A good civic will be about 7.5-9 litres per hundred depending on how you drive.

If you have vtec and hit vtec in every gear its like 10-11 litres per hundred.

Get a full service and use reliable fuel, i've stopped putting in fuel from just any place cos i use to get lots of problems. Pick a place where lots of people fuel up and it one of the major fuel brands. i.e shell, mobile, BP and even woollies has decent fuel. Stay away from all those wereid and backyard type places!

What is the size of your wheels?

I get on avg 450km hitting 5000rpm often, but mostly highway kays @100km/h. Premium Unleaded.
