View Full Version : How well do 205/45/16 tyres fit on 16x7.5" rims?

Saw some rims on sale that were 16x7.5" but noticed that most 205/45/16 tyres are put on 16x7" rims. If put on 16x7.5" rims, will the rim stick out too much and potentially gutter easier since the tyre is too narrow?
If so, what tyre would you recommend for 16x7.5" rims?
Thanks in advance. :p

the full exact width of your rim is 216mm
therefore 215/**/16 would be awesome
205 will fit too though

yeap, they will fit amazingly. you can even fit a lot narrower tires on those rims, Shops can stretch tires to fit, they do it a lot for drifting, it may be illegal though

i think 7.5 inches is 190 mm

25.4 mm per inch so no your rim would not be sticking out

7.5inches is the width of the actual inside of a 7.5' rim
the actual width from one end to the other is 8.5 bro

yes i didnt know this either till recently
i used to say the stock crx rim was 6inches cos i measured it (exactly the same as a $50 note) but its only regarded as 5inches

heres a diagram to show the rim width is measured from the inside.

Wheel diameter and width is measured inside the bead seats. So.. also a 16'rim will measure to be probably 17.5 maybe. :D AH yEs, its exactly 1inch wider than stated.

Hmmm... difficult decision. Although 215s would probably fit better if i decide to buy the 16x7.5" rims, i've run 215s b4 on another car and found they wear unevenly more often than narrower tyres despite several wheel balances and allignments.
Is this expected of wider tyres, or are my allignment guys dodgy coz i don't recall any bumps or knocks that would offset the allignments.

i had a 18x7.5 rim with 215/35/18 rubber...........therefore i say 215 for a 7.5 rim width.
