I have always wondered why my bumper was pushed in... and i just realised this morning after a regular maintenance session that it wasnt the bumper that was buggered, but the actual bumper support. Now what i want to know is whether or not i can bend it out to the normal position its meant to be in. Also i want to know whether it is advised to bend it out or to get a new bumper support? any help here would be great

I have straightened mine out successfully after a minor impact, but I am certain that upon impact again it will not hold up as well as it should. Try straightening it, it isn't too hard.
Our cars are very cleverly designed in that upon impact, our bumpers slide into the car rather than just deform.

Thanks heaps RedTeg. Now that i know it can be straightened, i feel much more confident.. lol. I do agree that it wont be as structurally strong, but as long as it works im happy.. cheers.
Actually how did you straighten it? I have had some thorts but actually knowing how to do it will help heaps.
Cheers, Chris

I removed it from the bumper itself and just bent stuff with big locking pliers and then kept trial fitting. I mainly had to move the brackets which screw on either side of the bumper, in between the indicators and the radiator cutout. I'll see if i can find a pic to illustrate.
Be prepared to struggle with the large screws which hold the support to the bumper. That's where the locking pliers (not their proper name) came into good use.
