Hey guys, when I start up the car after it's been sitting for a while (eg overnight) the car either starts up really fast, or i'll get a bit of shudder before it starts up. This also happens when I leave it in the sun for a few hours (3hrs+). I just got a minor service, oil, spark plugs etc.

If I start it up like this, then turn it off and start it up it starts alright.

94 Vti-R DC2 btw,

Normally heat soak of the distributor / coil or ignition switch can cause problems, depends on how old your car is it might be signs that your ignition system needs to be "inspected / replaced " soon.

every 5 yrs I would replace a Honda coil and ignition switch to keep things happy, but this is a very costly exercise.

Costly as in a few hundred right ? I hope it's not over $1k.

The coil is around 200$ and the igintion switch is arond $350 (off the top of my head) you should also get your self new STOCK HONDA leads($230) and a new dizy cap ($50)
That will solve your igintion problem for the next few yrs !!!

If I keep driving it like this, will I do any harm to my car ?

No harm to you car.. apart from one day it will jsut stop working, and you will be stuck, and need to call a tow truck.
I would differently recommended you upgrade your ignition parts before tuning your car, ignition tuning is very important, or upgrade to a MSD ignition after market system.

If in Sydney - I recommend takign ur car to Hannys performance - Robert will change your Igniter or Coil or Main relay etc for less than the cost of the actual unit itself ;)

Trust me...ive been there before ( and about to go back :()

Thanks Ben, but I'm in Melbourne.

James, looks like another obstacle before I get my tune up.
Yea I will look into getting an MSD ignition.
Is there any particular unit that you would recommend ?
