ME and a 300ZX

hey all

after yeseterdays meet with the civics...i was going home with steve..(totti)
at the lights to pennanthills road a balck 300zx pulled behind up behind
as we turned the ZX past took the other lane...
as the zx was about to go past i droped it into 2nd and planeted all the way.
i thought i was going to get munched but suprisingly i was neck and neck with him pulling a lil bit infront..l in forth gear the zx pulled off and so did i went past him and he gave me the thumbs up :D

well i thinki can kill him once i have my CAI EXHAUST and alligment fitted up properly...

but i neva knew my car will b that fast

300zx is a heavy car, but has a lot of torque out of its engine. If it was a TT he should have blown you away with the torque it has, compared to lack there of on the B16. In saying that, it's still a nice little run between both cars if they were both N/A :D

On takeoff you would, mainly because of weight and power-to-weight ratio in Danny's car. After takeoff, different story :P

My mate has an NA 300ZX. Can keep up with him till about 2nd, then its all over. Thats in my non-VTEC beast :)

Hmm, this is interesting... I dragged off a NA 300zx manual my mate bought a while back. Even being FWD I smoked it off the line, but it was pretty close, I think I had half a body length on him at the top of 4th gear...

the manual 300zxs have a really tall first gear (so does the prelude, but not as bad), so with a perfect launch in the prelude, I get about a length on the 300zx at 90km/hr.

i didnt launch at second gear rolling start from about 60k's in 3rd

Then, being a B16a, you'll get lunched... The 300zxs have too much torque from then on. Try a standing start, you should remain pretty close. Plus, being auto, it prolly dropped to2nd, which is a big dasadvantage to you.

Thats not too bad, but your catching the 300xz where it likes to be.. they like to have momentum before they accellerate

I had a drag this afternoon against a NA Supra... they are simillar but slightly quicker... Still beat it

he says he has kept up with a few DC2R's
