I put an immobiliser in my 94 gsi, other than that my teg just had central locking.

Yeah thats it, central locking until 98' model i think where they threw in an immobiliser.
Don't skimp on an alarm mate, choosing the right alarm is as important as choosing the right ECU!

my 94 has immobiliser, central locking and keyless entry.
no alarm yet...
would having an imobiliser/alam reduce insurance premium cos it makes it safer ?
or would it increase because theres more equipment to insure ?

What u should do in regards to security is what they have done oversea's to stop people car jacking them...
u will need:
Amour plate
Fire proof
1x Oxygen cylinder
1x ACEtlilne Cylinder
1x Pezo ignitor..
piping
The theory goes when someone comes to car jack u at the light u hit the gas/O2 button which shoots a perfectly combined mixture out from under you car in all directions for about 20 feet.. A second later hit the ignitor button and who ever was trying to steal your car is TOAST. LOL
umm good luck tryin to pass RWC with that...
seriously though just get a big ass rottie to live in your car.. BWWHHAHAHA
sorry guys...
just messing

I found that AVS is a great brand with several imobilizors, door triggers and unltra sonics... can get them pretty cheap to!

In some cases it is stipulated as a part of your insurance to have an australian standard 2 or 3 point immobiliser. Others may reduce premiums

Yeah I had to put a standard 2 point immobiliser as part of my insurance polic.
It just depends on your insurer. The best thing you can do is contact them, see if they have any specific brands that reduce premiums......nad then fit that alarm system.....show your insurer the certificates and receipts and you might get a small decrease in your premium...

In terms of security, purchase an alarm that has a lifetime warranty, multipoint immobiliser, keyless entry, shock sensor and anyother features in which you find necessary. But remember, that you ARE buying the alarm and immobiliser to protect your car. You're not spending the money on flashy features.

hey guys, new to this forum like my 2nd post. i bought my teg dc4 01 and about 4th week after buying it, the immobilizer was screwing round as the car beeps unlocked but the central locking/keyless entry was functioning properly.
anyways after the alarm went off about 5 times i realised it wasnt a stock immobilizer, as this is my first honda and my friend (dc2 vti-r who had a stock immobilizer) were comparing cars > so we just came to the conclusion that it was a shitty brand (black widow or sumthing  ) and this just means i dont think models after 96 came with stock immobilizers and should i get a new immobilizer or get it fixed (dealership warrenty)?
thanks, if i sed anything funny dont mind me im uber nub :D
i just recently bought my car as well, and with the alarm system the previous owner had in it was pretty much screwed. it was there and all but just didnt make any sound. say i mess with the car and all my car does is flash its hazards and stays silent :(
i juz bought a VIPER alarm system with 2 point immob. n now i just gotta find sumtime n sumone to install it (with work n stuff in the way).
u should seriously invest in a good alarm system itz just not worth coming back to ur car with it not being there or been broken into  ...
thatz y i know it was money well spent on the viper alarm n wen itz installed i'll sleep easier :p

well I know with VTIRs the 96 onwards came with immobiliser. I missed out lol. I had to have 3 point immobilisation for my insurer. As for the gsi - not sure if immobilisation was standard, or was an extra.
Do as the others have said, check with your insurer and its always best to have a bit of security.
