Hey guys,
A While back I told everyone that I was takin my car off the road to do the head gasket etc etc. Well it has taken some time (wkdteg will vouch for that) because of my mechanical knowledge (great learning experiance), a general desire to do everything 110%, & wait time on head service, parts (ebay for alot of stuff) + for some reason whenever me and my Mechanic mate get together to do it we seam to drink more beer then actually doing work LOL, so It has taken some time. Currently the head has been installed, Cams bolted on, dizzy is on, Exauhst & intake on etc. All that I have to do is the Timming belt, & engine mount and she should hopefully fire up ok. Here are some progress pics thats u can enjoy :D

yeah nothin performance wise, but cleaned alot of stuff, eg throttle body, intake manifold, injectors etc. checked specs & clearences with everything within honda spec. Ran outta cash for performance parts LOL, still payin off the car. The head service cost me $100 cash, but that was mates rates through STI docklands, did not include a valve job (they told me they were fine and within spec). Just a clean, crack test, adjustments. and they shaved/Milled the head for a better seal. Yeah the engine is a B18a Mate LOL. Yeah I did get a bit spray happy, I'f I had the time most of the parts would have been sprayed. Its the little things tho, like cleaning out pipes & parts etc. Cleaned that water Valve (forgot the name) that bolts to the head, got sooo much crap out, hot tanked it and sprayed it etc etc things like that. Tonight I got the rest of the pipes on, and cleaned down all the timming sprockets. Alot of Baked on oil and road grime. Timming belt goes on tommorow and RH engine mount. Then need to adjust the tappets. and hopefully she should be running. new sparkies, leads, Oil, Filters, Belts & the gearbox will be drained and refilled with Hoda MTF. If thats not a damn good service, I don't know what is LOL, Should run nice and smooth.

yeah all that dirty sh!t would make heaps of difference, ull feel the difference right away.

grrr im seriosuly thinkin bout doin a head job (no not that kind u filthy buggers) on mine. im startin 2 lose a bit of water again, and my belts look a bit dry (cracking). ill try get my old man on2 it as soon as he get a holiday.

i wanna get my hands on a steam cleaner and get my engine bay up 2 scratch... its totaly filthy. couple of days of elbow grease n i should have the car sparkling.

matt, howd u get off the baked on oil and road grime?

Umm subie spray and lots of it. My mate calls its subie spray cause he works at subaru lol but its just throttle body cleaner, the stuff they spray into the throttle body while the engine is running hot, Atomises and gets off baked on stuff really quick. He showed me a before and after of a few squirts into a hot manifold. The difference is amazing, from dirty crap to sparkling clean. This stuff smells really bad and if ya have astmah DO NOT USE IT, use a mask. Also just degreaser, some scrubbing etc etc. Would love a steam cleaner.

nah bro, i done the chemi weld, which is only a temporary fix. thats y i was clueless when u asked about the cam thingy. we were gonna crack it open if the chemi weld didnt work 1st time around.

it worked, but when i chucked in the new intake, and serviced it, ive been thrashing it around, so ive been losin sum oil and water. the oil is mega thin, so i reckon it could b evaporating

either way, i wanna get the thing freshened up during the summer.
