Hi this topic has been covered over and over again in PA,
here the link http://www.preludeaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10760
you'll find it an interesting read :)

Long story short, its just a replacement block for H22A, no diff in perfomance.

h22a was built and put into preludes.
they also built some spare h22 blocks to be used/sold only as parts, with the stamp h22z.
they ran out of h22a blocks and someone at the factory said "hey boss...can we just use these h22z blocks?"
so at that point they started using them.

no real difference.
there was an advertised power increase from 142kw to 147kw at the same time. not sure if this was cause of the different blocks or something else.

ok cant be bothered searching...but how come some ppl advertise or review the 99+ preludes as a 2.3L ( vti-r ) ???

i think the prelude Si was 2.3L...but all the VtiR are 2.2L

92-96 (4th gen) came out in a 2.3 dohc non vtec model.
5th gen didnt have a 2.3.
there was a 2.2 vtec and a 2.2 non vtec model.

thats where i read the info lol..."The 1999 year model included over a thousand dollars worth of leather trim in the VTi-R with an improved 2.3 litre VTEC engine". Just a small typo i guess

incorrect.

there is such a thing as a 2.3l vtec. but its rare as rocking horse shit and was never in a prelude.
pretty sure it was a jdm type-r accord thing.

and you will also note that they call the si model an s1.

i have sent them a feedback note telling them that their info is wrong. i like being a smart arse. :p
