View Full Version : [Euro] Dust and pollen filter

The Euro manual recommends replacement of the dust and pollen filter every 30,000kms or 12 months.

Now I can be fairly confident that Honda dealers I have been to didn't change mine as part of scheduled servicing. I say this as I just pulled mine out and it has plenty of crap in there (separate the channels).

I can't be bothered changing it now (how much are these?) - just vacuumed out all the crap.

Anyway - thought I would let you know - as Honda dealers don't appear to follow the schedule for replacing these.

The dust and pollen filter is not in the scheduled service though... It's about AU$80 or so from the dealer. You can buy from Acura of Escondido on ebay for cheaper.

It is in the scheduled service tables in the full manual - for some reason it isn't in that flimsy service booklet.

$80? lol. Yeah I'll look online. Didn't take me long to find this---$12.95 USD..

I emailed these guys - they will ship by air 1 or 2 units to Australia for shipping cost of $13.40 canadian.

So if you buy 2 the total cost shipped is $50 AUD.

By the way - this doesn't look like an OEM Honda part - it is a non genuine replacement. Anyway given the price I think I will order 2 from these guys - aarong is right Honda parts want $80 for 1 oem.

What are you talking about re ozone cleaning? We are talking about a dust filter that air passes through before it reaches the vents inside the car.

Sounds to me that Eurotony paid $80 for the filter and $10 for fitting the filter (a 3 minute job).

What I had done was an Aircon system clean. I believe they take out the filters, clean (or replace) them & clean all the housings & fittings with an antibacterial cleaner. The system smells fresher & Works as well as ever. I guess because I use the car for business & I can claim it on tax it was ok. If I was not able to do so I may have thought twice about having to pay for it.

Hehe, I'm in the city most of the time. Maybe it's because of the dusty environment? But I definitely need to get one of these filters. Probably from the link that yfin posted earlier.

I dropped my car in for its 60K km service and they just called me wanting $104 for the pollen filter!

What a rip! Having said that they also wanted $206 for rear brake pads, which i thought was ok, given they'll be OEM

LOL, because they install it for you. If you buy the filter from the parts department, it's about $85. I got my filter from Canada Link (http://cgenterprises.com/cabinairfilters/cabin%20air%209922TC.htm), it's cheaper but it is aftermarket. If you want a proper Honda/Acura one, then try Acura TSX pollen filter (http://www.acuraparts247.com/sunnyside/jsp/sp_srchrslts.jsp?sptype=Acura+Parts&pavalue=Filters&spfeaturedprd=Pollen+Filters)

With regards to brake pads... that's the same price as sports pads! Unless you need someone to install the pads for you, I'd buy aftermarket and install it myself.

Yes, the TSX filter will fit the Euro. I've heard that the USDM Accord filter also fits, but I'm not sure. I'm currently using a filter that is sized for the TSX from cabinairfilters.net

I think it's in the regular manual. Not too sure though.

1) Open your glovebox.
2) Take contents out
3) On the left side, unclip the hydraulic arm from the glovebox (by pushing it back).
4) Push the 2 upper edges of the glovebox closest to the dash together so that the whole glovebox flips down.
5) Behind the glovebox is a plastic tray with 2 push clips. Push the 2 clips together and pull the tray out. Notice the orientation arrow printed on the tray.
6) Replace the white/grey filter.
7) Reverse the steps to reinstall
8) If your glovebox just drops down instead of having that dampened opening effect, check that you reattached the hydraulic arm.

I am with Aarong on this - $206 for rear pads is steep. And the dealer is quoting you much more than other dealers for the pollen filter. This is what my dealer quotes for the pads (04 model):

Front brake pads part number is 45022SEAJ01 and priced at $157.75
Rear brake pads part number is 43022SV4G22 and priced at $160.15
The pollen filter for the TSX definately fits the Euro - i checked the part numbers when I ordered from the USA.

You can take it out to check. BUt unless it is dark grey in colour, I wouldn't change it.

honda is now using the 06 pads for the older model euros.
they haven't superseded, the compound is a bit softer than the older model ones, there fore prolonging the life of the rotors more.

Yeah but is this fitted? The $206 was for the pads fitted, My last car was a Civic VTI-R Coupe and they wanted $450 for the fronts.

Not too worried, it cost $200 for the whole service with the parts.

Are you sure they don't fit? I bought from them, part number 9922tc and they fit in my car. Got a pic of both your filter holder and the cabinfilter filter?

I will try to describe the problem.
Physically the filter is the correct size, but the filter has to fit in a recess in the plastic case, the corrugations (for want of a better word) are running the wrong way to sit in the recess. As the filter is oblong if I turn it around so the "corrugations" fit in the recess, it is then the wrong shape to fit in the plastic case.

Ooooh... just turn it so it fits. The corrugations on the cabinfilter filter are perpendicular to the Honda one.

No, the honda filters and cabinfilters.net filters are made by different companies. The honda one is better built with reinforcement ribs along the filter material.

When it turns black. Say after 20,000km if you vent outside air, or about 40-50,000km if you use recirculate.
