Hi guys

I'm a complete noob when it coming to audio and I'm on a very tight budget

I have 4-way 6" SONY Xplods 250W Max Power (65RMS) per channel

2 x Front
2 Back

What's the cheapest but OK amp I can buy?

Thx LukeZen

I am happy with my Jaycar 4 chan amp. Dunno how it stacks up against other ones around the price range but it's far better than the other two cheapy dual channel amps I've had. I got it for $150 2nd hand I think.

Jaycar is a really good budget amp, if you want something better, i would suggest Coustic, you can get them from JB hifi for less than $400 i think, or another option is get the Audison Srx2 (75wrms/channel) selling at around $275 to run your front and use HU to power ur back speakers. Both amp should have enough power on tap and will power your speakers beautifully, but i would prefer Audison, better sound quality and appearance, also cheaper. Good luck

The above is hell cheap but only 50RMS per channel.....

The question is, do you match the RMS AMP=SPEACKER 65RMS/65RMS?

when ur speakers say 65rms it means 65 each channel so u need a amp that will output 130rms into 2 channels, and yeah the schneider amp i mentioned is perferct for u, even when u get new speakers it will run them at optimum levels,
i recommend u save up abit and buy a good amp like the schneider one, trust me it saves u from buying amps twice if u buy something good in the first place...

4 x 100W RMS @ 4OHM but will also run 2OHM stable Jaycar amp is under $300 new. Got to be the best bang for buck.

If you use the BS rating system like Alpine at 14.4V then it is over 130W x 4 RMS. If your cars electrical system puts out a constant 14.4V then your car is globally unique.

But the one in da link I've given is 5 x 50W RMS per channel @ $75

For $200 for an extra 15W RMS be worth it and could you realy tell the difference?

Thx for the info so far guys

The newer model jaycar amps and speakers are meant to be alot better than the older ones.

The difference isn't 15W but double the power 50W to 100W per channel.

The $100 buck one will do the job for you at the moment. As you say your budget is tight and it should allow you to get some cables.

around 17-20 rms

around 17-20 rms

That's with 5% distortion though so real RMS even less at 1% distortion.

Gets me how head units are quoted RMS (if you can find the figure at all) with 5% distortion when amps are always quoted at 1% or less. Suppose it bumps up the numbers. If they just want stupid numbers then they should use PMPO or ILS.

its not a BS rating system if you use a capacitor...
