View Full Version : [EUro] My Euro with new mods!

Sulley
13-11-2005, 05:46 PM
Currently installed: Injen CAI, SSR SP1s 18x8 +49 Continental Sportcontact 2 245/40/18, 5 Zigen Proracer, Spoon Short shifter.
Parts yet to be installed: Mugen Front Bar + hood trim(gonna send for painting soon), Euro R skirts+ rear(Painting soon too), Cusco front strut, lower arm bar, fanswitch, thermostat, steel brake lines, High temp pads, Exedy Hyper single clutch + lightweight flywheel.
Other planned mods: Coilovers, CF bonnet, Euro R pedals, HIDs, Interior leather retrim(2 tone, similar to KINTO), Lower final drive + LSD, rear sway bar

Few questions..
1. I find 5Zigen Proracer abit too soft. Is there anyway to make it louder? Im not sure if it comes with a removable silencer, i just took it outta the box and installed it.
2. I trial fitted the Mugen front bar and it doesnt sit very well, is the JDM radiator cover essential? or do i just need minor modifications to the AUDM one?

all opinions and advice appreciated!

Hi Sulley - once your car is finished with the kit and dropped it will lookg great.

This thread is a mix of appearance and tech questions so I'll keep it in this forum.

Re your list - I notice that you have the auto but you include in your list of parts to install "Exedy Hyper single clutch + lightweight flywheel".

Not sure if you realise this but unless you are doing a manual conversion you can't install that kit on your car. I think changing lower final drive is a problem too. Nice list of upcoming mods though

hey sulley! wow! very nice mods there. few questions though

1) where did u get those parts from? i remember u giving me a site but i forgot to bookmark it.
2) the 5 zigen proracer exhaust is a single exhaust outlet or dual?
3) is it hard to install the exhaust on your own?

As for your mugen front bar, the JDM radiator covor i think isnt necessary at all. I still have my AUDM factory radiator cover and from what i tried, it wont fit over the mugen bar. Can't wait to go cruisin with ya man!

I was going to do what ur doin atm too. was only gonna get mugen front bar and euro R rear pod and sides....but in the end decided to go the whole hog and go mugen! post some pics when you finish it all

Stephen - can you explain this please. You say the AUDM cover won't fit but then you say the JDM one isn't necessary.

yeah yoram what i meant was i dont think its absolutely necessary to get a JDM radiator cover for the mugen front bar.

The AUDM radiator cover does not fit over the mugen front bar, but from what i know, the JDM one does. But all i was tryin to say was that I dont see it as a necessity in getting a JDM radiator cover since the AUDM one doesnt fit.

I currently dont have a radiator cover on mine and i dont want to buy the JDM one to replace my old AUDM cuz i dont think that i need one.

To clarify, the JDM radiator cover is shaped slightly differnt from the JDM one. (i remember this clearly cuz mattel showed me a comparison in one of the photos he put in his writeup thread for his mugen front grille)

Heres the thread. the pic is near the end of matells post. (beware 56K'ers)

Hey,
I've got my parts from all over the place!
1.some from yahoo auctions, some from traders, some from friends who send it from overseas to me...
2.the 5Zigen prorace is a single exhaust outlet.
3.didnt make the post clear, i actually got it installed in a shop. Its a simple bolt on, took 20mins. Car needs to be hoisted.

i don't really like the mugen rear spoiler, might get a lip spoiler but havent decided yet.
How much did it cost you to get everything painted and fitted?
I know someone who can do a decent backyard job but im wondering if i should get someone more professional..

so i could just remove the AUDM rad cover and do without one?

stephen8512
13-11-2005, 08:14 PM
in short, yes. the AUDM rad cover wont fit on the mugen bar anyway so u'll have no choice but to remove it

Sulley
13-11-2005, 08:31 PM
will removing the Rad cover have any ill effects?

stephen8512
13-11-2005, 08:33 PM

ive had mine off for 2 months now and no ill effects watsoever...

hey Sulley,
i saw your car at heymarket last night,
i was thinking could that be you coz not that many ppl have these SSR wheels
nice ride

I actually think that the stock rims/wheels look nicer than the ones you have installed to be honest, especially the ones on the 05 Luxury Euro's, sorry but I am sorta old fashioned when it comes to mods. Sure do her up, throw some sideskirts on her, even a mugen grill... but why ruin the Euro's image of style and sporty by putting wheels on her that could be found on a rally vehicle? Each to their own !

Ok so I have another opinion, sorry but I don't see the point in those large 'blower' exhausts, same thing as above... why do it? I have seen the same exhaust on ricers driving anything from a commodore to a lancer, all it does is make the car sound like a lawnmower on steroids, I mean how do you hear the roar of VTEC when all you can hear is exhaust noise? I don't get it, can someone explain to me the deal?

I know stock is stock and maybe you are trying to make your Euro unique, but hell do it clean, keep the style, just my 2 cents worth :)

Now take it to the strip and get us some 1/4 mile times :D :D :D

The 17" stock rims are ok, but I would have preferred it a darker colour, especially for blue and black euros.

Yes yes, please bring it to the track for 1/4 mile times. I want to know the advantage of the lightened flywheel.

Hey, the rims arent rally wheels! i had the stock 16" and they just look too small. i like the black with polished lip but each to his own i guess..

the exhaust isnt as loud as what you think. Infact its only very slightly louder at idle than stock and at higher rpms, it sound stock. The CAI is way louder than the xorst. Exhaust was put in for weight saving and maybe slight power gains, not so much for rice.

Buy mine! :D
I've yet to fit it on, and from what i read, its not very daily driver friendly. If no one buys it in maybe a month, i might fit it on. but im going overseas for 3 months(dec to feb) so might fit it on when i get back to sydney.

once i get my other stuff installed, will prob take it down to the drag strip and down the track to see how it goes.

haha damn i thought you'd fitted it already - be interested to see how it goes down the track.

I think i'd prefer to but the jdm flyhweel for dc5 (4.7kg) and organic clutch - was quoted about 1300 installed for that. Your selling yours for 1300 hey, if i could get it for around a grand i'd consider it :p

it retails for $1800!
if you're really interested, i'll do it for $1200.
that's huge savings!
exedy's good stuff...
anyway how much does it cost to install a clutch and flywheel?

Should have got the new Luxury 17 inch's, look nice on most Euro's, especially the lighter colored ones, yours are ok though, don't fuss dude I am just old fashioned and think the mods should suit the car hehe.

lol weight saving on a car that weighs 1415kgs.
i totally respect that its your car, but i kinda agree with the person who previously mentioned the rims, they just seem to disrupt the fine euro lines.
nice work though anyways, not too many people modding these cars.

I disagree. I think the lighter coloured rims work well with the abundance of chrome especially on the darker coloured euros. If anything, I'd get the stockies polished.

Getting a clutch and flywheel installed isn't exactly cheap - it requires six hours of labour... your probably looking at around $400 just for installation.

wheels looks shocking. old skool wheels dont suite newer shaped cars.

i'd be suprised if you you can get it to look any better just by putting on a kit and lower it.

get those wheels off put some bling bling heheheh :D
