Jazz XForce Header and downpipe (with High Flow Cat)

I’ve had my header and downpipe installed on Friday, first of all, I gotta say it’s definitely money well spent. I’ll try to get some pics loaded later today, but I’m sure a lot of you here has seen them before……

Product impression:

Xforce header is bigger and thicker than the oem ones, welding is quite good, both header and the downpipe are stainless steel, downpipe has a high flow cat built in. The header is about 3.1kg, oem is 3kg, Spoon header is 2kg… but consider Spoon is close to $1000, I would say, money for value wise, xforce is pretty unbeatable….

Installation:

As you guys all know, there isn’t much space in the jazz engine bay, so most of time there is only enough space for one hand to reach in. The down pipe was taken out from underneath the car, the header was slide out from the top. All the plugs, pipes and spark plugs leads were all taken off to give room for the header to come out, and if u have front strut on, it might scratch the bar a bit.

Note 1:

Pre 04 models, there is only one oxygen sensor on the downpipe, 05 models have two, so you must block the second one for 04s, otherwise there will be an engine light.

Note 2:

Exhaust gasket between the header and the downpipe is bigger than the oem one, so must source a suitable one, otherwise there will be a LEAK, and once again, there will be an engine light….. :D

Improvement:

From driving through out the weekend, combining highway, city traffic, and sprint (to the speed limit)…… the most noticeable improvement is from 2200 to 5000rpm…. Mid range urge is amazing….. torque for each gear from downlow has improved dramatically. As I was going through some twistees and in traffic, I can now use a higher gear compare to previously to put the car out of the corner. And the car won’t feel flat or “chocky” when you are in a gear too high…..

From standing start, it gets off line much more smoothly, when changing gears, the revs doesn’t drop as much, which makes the gear change smoother as well….

In high rpm, the car doesn’t feel as stressed as before, and you can feel there is a change around the 5500rpm mark….

Over all, the car feels that its breathing better, the exhaust sound is deeper and louder L, but I would it overall 9/10…..

Hope I'm making sense, i'm writing this at work..... :P

There are more one jazz owners here who has installed the header, please share your feedbacks and comments, thank you.

lol
with a bigger header and a better intake equiped but you dun have a bigger pipe for the air to run out is pretty useless

Actually they aren't "pretty useless" without an exhaust...

Idealy you should do both, but if are just going to do one, you will get better gains from the headers than just doing the cat back exhaust.

Good writ up MRFIT...I have been contemplating these for a while but still not sure. Can you PM the price for the version with the cat?

oh... i have an exhaust as well....

so my set up is:

GD1 Air box, xforce header, xforce downpipe with High flow cat, custom B-pipe, HKS exhaust.....

this should clear up a few questions that may arise....

cheers...

agree with you as it is better than just changing the muffler but still limited A LOT using stock bpipe coz it is too tiny lol

After 5 days of driving after installing the header and downpipe, my fuel consumption actually went down from 7.1L to 6.8L........ :) I thought it would go up.....

i guess its an added bonus.....

muli
16-11-2005, 07:47 PM
I dont think bolt-on mods increase fuel consumption its only if you rev it past that 3500 or 4000rpm that you notice the increase in fuel consumption in the jazz. Im buying a ss soon and been researching on them and bolt-on mods dont seem to increase fuel consumption even in a such big engine, actually lower it a few points of a littlre but start driving anything hard with mods and you'll notice the increase in fuel usage, normal cruising my jazz is around 5.7-6.1 depending on the day, i reset it daily so i try to stick under 6l but sometimes it goes to about 6.8 and stays there for days just depends how much you rev it.
