You would need to locate the search button at the top of your screen....

But it is no where near as simple as what that "guy" said

that guy is what we technically refer to as "wrong"

a VTEC head does not "bolt straight on" a B20A

with a B20B on the other hand, the VTEC head "almost bolts straight on"

unfortunatly a B20B is out of a CRV, and wont "bolt in" a Prelude...

tru so what can i do for bit more power but dosent cost to much

I/H/E and a SAFC2.

Will give it a bit more power and not cost "too" much. The gains to price ratio is debatable.

tinkerbell would know what it takes, he's done the same thing on a 2nd gen prelude b20 engine. Its not going to be cheap, and its definetly not bolt on.

Tinkerbell used a CRV engine for his conversion and the Prelude (b20a) motor you’re talking about cannot be used for B20/VTEC conversions.

I would just like to clarify that a VTEC head WILL NOT bolt onto a B20a in any way shape or form.
To quote one of my earlier posts

The B20 engine you’re talking about from a prelude is not the B20/VTEC engine. The B20a is the black sheep of the B-series. It is nothing like the B20 you need for a Frankenstein conversion. None of the galleries line up with the B16 head (plus a bunch of other problems).
You need the B20z or B20B from a CRV.

i dont think it can be easily done in a 88-91, it only worked in my 83-87 because i could 'bolt-on' several parts from the doner 89 Integra (which shared much of the Prelude front end geometry)

but i have seen a *few* H22A Gen 3's, i think these are still going to involve custom mounts like my 83 did.

i agree with 91'Lude

I/H/E and a SAFC2.

is a start, but on such a low revving engine, the gains are minimal...

CTR Coupe - the VTEC head WILL bolt on to a Lude engine in this shape and form:

every day you learn something new eh?

http://ludicrous2_0.tripod.com/vtec/

highly unrecommended to do this though...

I was told Tinkerbell had done a head conversion, not a whole engine conversion.

There are a few h22a 3rd gens around, new mounts, new drivetrain, new gearbox, and you have problems with the oil sump being to low etc. Thats talking a $10,000 conversion though, this isnt about that.

As has been said in many threads. a 2.25" Exaust system, a custom intake, and proper headers will give gains, SAFC2 and a dyno tune could give gains around the 15kw at the wheels mark. Particularly in the top end. Its up to you if you beleive this is worth it.

But either way, your not going to get speed for cheap out of a 3rd gen.

the '83 Lude came out with a 1.8l twin carbie engine (known as the 'ET'), imagine VTEC head on that!

the only 2.0l 2nd gen Ludes where the 86-87 ones with the A20A PGMFI engines.

hmmm, nah, maybe half of that...

Yeah i always thought the 2nd gen engine was A20, not a b20!

Racinghonda on preludeaustralia (these forums too) was getting close to the 90kw atw mark on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno, with the mods above posted.

Stock lude's pull mid 70's.
