i bought a HITACHI 14.4volt 1/2 inch drive electric ratchet gun. Great investment - as strong as a decent air setup and compact.

But , you will save up for a good aircompressor + accessories if you want versitility. You can have a air ratchet , air pump , spraying booth , fluid drainer/sprayer etc etc etc all in one tool ( if you spend the extra cash!)

Snap on IMO would be the best, last forever.

SP is a great brand for cheeper air tools

Motor Mate have a good range of air tools.

$500 yes. Great for everything bar the toughest bolts that might need repetition and would probably burnout the motor.

you asked about air tools - and i agree with ECU MAN etc. Pay a pretty amount for Snap-on etc , or simply borrow someone elses. IMO its not worth at all , spending cheap on a air too setup.

I have bought heaps of snap on air tools over the years and i have found that their quality isn't as good as what it used to be, alot of their air tools are made in china and taiwan. Their hand tools rock though. just buy the cheapies, i use them all day everyday and don't have issues.. I have about half dozen snap on air tools sitting here broken.

yes for alittle while. You want bigger CFM and better quality tho to prevent the compressor "compressing" every 2 minutes of use.
Also factor in that you need to maintain a air compressor and its tools with oil , petrol and other lube etc..

Craftsman tools rock. pm if you need any craftsman tools
i also found that snap on's warranty isnt as good as it was. before if u broke a tool you could take it to the truck and then they give you a new one. now the first want to inspect that the tool was used in the way it was meant to be used.

you mean a spindle nut ? yup i havent dared go for the 185NM rating rofl - we shall see if "rated power" is at all equal to "real power" :)

Snap-on prices don't justify their quality these days..
only things snap-on which are convincingly better than most makes are their screw drivers and ratchets... even ratchets i would prefer something not as pricy... stahlwille/hazet/blackhawk/old sidchromes(very good if u happen to have these lying around..new ones arnt built as tough) ..
so yeah

I personally haven't found a spanner better than the flank drive snap on but you pay through the teeth for them, Snap on hand tools are the best full stop.. Snap on will always replace a hand tool no questions asked, Their air tools and timing lights only have a std 1 year warranty and if you break it after the one year is up you have to pay a service fee to fix it.. If you just want something basic then go and get something like sidchrome, CGL or Repco.. They all work!

i bought a rattle gun and air ratchet last year when i first bought my car and i was working on it a fair bit. I only bought the supercheap auto brand. I cant remember what its called 'super works' i think. But i have thrashed the rattle gun since then and no problems as long as you put oil in it occasionally. I noticed most of the pneumatic tools i was looking at were made in china anyway so i thought wats the diff from one chinese factory to another, the difference was about $3-400.

I reckon you just go cheapies unless you are using it every day, itll serve you fine.

depending on ur compressor.. dont buy a shitty compressor that doesnt have the pressure to run your air tools.
