Hey guys, i am newbie to this forum. I have been reading and enjoying the forum on here for a while now... i am amazed at how much information is available on this forum.. it is very helpful..thanks guys!
Just a quick question, its pretty urgent though- will a dc2 short shifter bolt up to a da9 ? if not- what adjustments would have to be made?
Thanks guys.

It will bolt on i have one on in my car
you will have to remove the heat shiled off the exhaust to fit cause it will be longer shaft and scrape the top of the shild
also is your exhaust standrd?
if not it may even hit the exhaust and knock your car into nuteral and gear when you go over bumps!
i would know...

I had to remove the heat shield on my exhaust; Sucks a bit because that area of the cabin gets a bit warmer on long drives :) But i'm over it.
I'll have to say though; Putting the short shifter in was possibly the worst job i've ever had to do on my car. Give me engine conversions, power steering removals (gotta love p/s fluid :thumbdwn:); But bullshit like this where stuff falls in your eyes every 5 seconds, and bolts are that hard to reach... It's just gay :D Glad i'll never be doing it again..

dropping the exhaust is a must it will save heeps of time!
bolts will be hard to get to and snap!
car has to be up on ramps or stands
removing center consol is allright but depending on shifter
mine bends forwards and it makes it a prick to get back on!

me and my mate arjay did mine on my da9 it was easy! we only had to go through the bottom of the car wiht the exaughst out, we didnt need to take off the centre consol inside
and yeh the heat shield came out
and u can buy them form ebay easily, just get the right one for ur car to save possible hassle.

i would suggest a name brand like b & m, as i have had one of my ebay shifters snap. I believe it was made of a cheap alloy and just chrome plated.

Just where the gearknob sits when its in neutral. With the double bend shifter the knob will sit like standard in the middle of the boot. With the single bend it will do the same i think but the knob wont be facing up it will be facing you.
I have the b&m which is just a straight shifter and it looks like its in 3rd gear when its in neutral but you get used to it.

the little stick that i use to change gears now rattles though, is there a way i can fix that? its very annoying
i think its the bottom of it just hitting the side of the gearbox. but i need it to stop!!!

yeh mine had that too
its the little o rings that go on the sleeve that goes through the hole of the shifter
you have to pull it out and get some fatter rubber o rings. costs about 30c to fix man but a pain in the ass to pull it out again. but after you put the fatter rings in it shouldnt rattle again.
