The colt has lotsa features but its so not very aesthetically pleasing imo. Looks like a A-class wonnabe.
Jazz is a all-rounder. Im happy with it, though id prefer something a bit faster...

Had an '05 Jazz 1.3 auto loan car for 2 days and was impressed with it overall. My only gripe is all round visibility (and huge drop in power) not as good as my DC2, more pillars from 2 more doors and larger rear headrests interrupt the view a little, but that's being picky. Personally I'd go for the 1.5 vti-s manual if I bought one.
such a question on a honda forum
i own a mitsubishi mirage,
i wouldnt consider my answer biased,...
i will say jazz is better.
however im getting good vibes with the new toyota yaris.

Wait for the Colt Turbo that is supposed to come out. But for reliability and space, I'd go for Jazz.
i find the colt looks to be more of a euro compact car...tall and skinny..i dont like it though..never been a big fan of mitsubishi entry level cars ever since i owned a lancer..
i own a jazz atm..its great...fun to push around..comfy inside and great for those who wanna save on petrol

if the colt came out in manual it'd be a hoot to drive, but as is, the jazz is better without consideration of anything else due to a manual gearbox in my books
Looks like a A-class wonnabe.
colt and A class share the same chassis, hence they look very similar

And i had the same problem. The dealer which i took the car had and colt and jazz, and he told me that jazz is the best in his category. He is a friend of mine and he has not any reason to sell me the jazz.It is the best in all categories

Colt and Smart (ForFour) shares the same chassic. And Smart belongs to Merc if i'm not wrong.
Although Colt put out a slight lower horsepower, but it doesn't also apply to its cornering ability.

IMO without test driving the Colt: (Not trying to be biased because I own a Jazz) though, the colt looks really cute and cheaper than Jazz....
Jazz got more grunt.
Jazz got more space
Jazz is more fuel efficient.
Jazz got better resale value
Jazz is a Honda.
I was looking for a second car (preferbly not Jazz as I already have one) and did all the comparison... and Colt is not in my list...

There's best motoring episode that featured a small car racing category.
6 small hatches were raced on tsukuba circuit. They were: Swift Sport, Colt ralliart, Fit 1.5S (close to jazz vtis), Lupo GTi, Citroen C2 and Swift Sport S1.
Battle result was:
1st Swift S1
2nd Lupo Gti
3rd Swift Sport
4th Fit 1.5S
5th C2
6th Colt Ralliart (Turbo)
Based on this result i would say Jazz is a more balanced car than Colt. The Colt Ralliart was faster than C2 on the straightaway but on corners, it's very poor. The CVT on the Colt is probably not the best either since at the beginning of the race, the driver (Kinoshita) was experiencing difficulty shifting up and it lacked response.
More over, the guys that designed the A class were also the designers for the new mitsubishi colt. The colt turbo is infact already out but no signs of mitsubishi bringing them in. WOuld love to try that turbo out if it came. As for the Yaris, the only thing i dun like about Toyota Australia is that they fitted the same old engine from the previous generation to the new Yaris. And also it's body kit package, if you have seen the Japanese version, you'll be amazed how blunt the Australian one look like. All in all still all for jazz mate.... Looks amazing, drives amazing...

I know the Suzuki Swift Sport is the one below (which is due to be release in Australia next year.. ) but have no idea what is S1.. HEHEHE!!

The Australian Yaris looks the same as the Japanese Vitz. Jazz's look is getting dated. I like the space and practicality as well as the ability of the CVT tranny to keep it at peak power RPM by using S mode, but it does look oldish.
i remember reading somewhere that there might be a suzuki swift with the 1.8l out of the ignis sports, 86kw or something.
What im looking forward to is the polo gti coming out next year with a price of around 26,000 + onroads i think, this got the previous model golf gti's 1.8l turbo 110kw engine, this engine got heaps of aftermarket tuning parts

That's right. If I am correct, the engine is straight out of a Audi A4 1.8T hence the aftermarket world expands.

i tried the 1.3 yaris today and thought it was ok for a little 1.3ltr engine, im looking for a simple cheap and reliable little car. want it to be able to store crap in the boot. just kinda choosing from Jazz, Yaris and Colt... Jazz hands down!
Swift is a great car too, and some fuggtards on a tv show on the weekend rated jazz last in the practicality???????? and swift beat it????? swifts folding rear seats SUCK!!!
ive loaded my jazz with a new washing machine in the box, lets see a swift do that!
i guess its just the fact that a jazz is a older model so its not as practical anymore as stupid as it sounds

Honestly the swift is nowhere near as practical as the Jazz.
When i sat in the swift during the Motor Show, i was cramped up in the rear seats and i'm not a big fellow either. Even if the front seats were pushed forward further, it didn't feel much better.
Interior, i think Jazz beats it hands down too. However, the Swift is much cheaper and we can't ask for it too much.

Swift is not that bad considering the money you pay... It probably cost the same as the 1.3 Jazz...
The ride is good .. and I reckon it handles better than the Jazz... no doubt the quality and workmenship is not as good as the Jazz.. You get what you pay for... :D :D

Just because we own a Jazz doesn't mean we should wear colored glasses to look at the Swift.. You are quite wrong.. Swift is better than the Jazz in a few aspects.. Not only Honda knows how to make good cars.. others are starting to make good cars...
There must be a reason why it got rated 16 out of 20 and won 2 giant small cars tests.. Don't tell me Jazz looses because others are cheap and Jazz is more expensive.. c'mon guys..
What do you mean by a swift is still a swift, other ppl can say .. a Jazz is still a Jazz.. :D :D
I am not being bias. I love both.. Both got their own weakness and strength...

This is true about the Colt Ralliart. But that's really a test mule version. The real thing is here in australia finally. Named Colt Ralliart Version R in Japan. Although its interior dash isn't as nice as a Jazz, but it will beat the shit out of all the small car on the market and even Polo GTI. Stock to stock, Colt Ralliart Version R is faster than the POLO GTI.

For 128kW, there are many other engines that produce more power and torque while being lighter than the 2.8L 12 valve VR6. But the latest 24 valve VR6 is tops! USA gets a 3.6L version pushing 208kW.

value for money the jazz for sure isnt, i mean the old jap made vtis was 26,490 or similar on the road, last month in brissie they were selling polo gti's for 27,000 drive away.

i just took an auto Vti for a replacement car while the civic was in serivice
1.id say it has the best auto gearbox ever made in a small car
2.it has a 7speed auto mode with paddle shift on the steering wheel
3.clearly defined VTEC
4.VERY spacious, 5 ppl comfortably
5.ABSOLUTLEY beautiful view all round
6.The easiest car to park, u can put it in the smallest, tightest places
7.looks great
8.heeps of storage space
9.EXCELLENT fuel economy
10.lots of torque low down, easy for slow manuvering
11.if u get a manual, the car is almost perfect in everyway

If you look at Best Motoring Sept Version, where Tsuchiya rates all cars on the touge, Swift Sport is at the bottom of the list (No 35 or 36) and R.Colt ranked No 20 (half a rank off the latest DC5R in jap)
And looking at the Jap Price list by "aaronng", damn the Honda's expensive.

The track and touge are 2 different playing fields. Also, why shouldn't the Jazz be in the race? The VTEC version is essentially the sporty version of the 1.5L Jazz with the regular one running the 1.5L i-DSI which we don't get in Australia.

Yes, track & touge is different, but not all that much. It's not the huge difference between a drag to track, or drift to track. Hence it's still taken into consideration on its power and handling.
