LS Dash Lights

just reading another thread about EL guages, and where to get them...
has any tried changing the light bulbs behind the dials instead of changing the whole thing? in oder to maintain the black face during the day, and have blue lights at night? i just reckon the black face looks better during the day, but i hate the green lighting

Ive read on g2ic that a lot of ppl have tried using blue bulbs but they seem to fade for some reason.. But a lot of people are into the amber look. You could probably search their forums and find quite a fair bit on it.

My 2 cents.

Ok well i have WHITE LED's in my gauges, now you may think white... yuck, but it came out a nice blue, looks awesome! Ive tested amber, blue, red, green leds but they just dont have the brightness of the white. I do have a foto of it at night on my fone.. but its really crappy, so bear with me and ill take some fotos tonite and post them... It looks shit hot in my opinion

they are little silocone sleeves which go over your wedge globes to sorta change the colour of them

quite nice but not very bright, how much do those bulbs cost and are they easy to install???
id probably have a look at gettin some amber ones.........

everyones lights are a tad greenish...
yellowish lights with blue condoms on them...

i did me own thing when i pulled everything out and stripped the condoms...
it turned out alot brighter with it being white lights now...
i then added a tinge of red with a neon replacing the bulbs shinging down on the cluster.. the effect with white surrounds...

i compared it to TRUE2U dash on thursday and its way brighter than the stockies..

Its actually quite bright at night.. photos dont do it justice. it may look dull but you can see everything quite clearly at night

they do fade slightly after time so you can buy replacemnts

The LS Vtec couldnt hold up to my driving style so i'm going bigger and stronger

my car has only 100,000 on the clock winding back is easier then it looks

They are wedge type globes in 10mm and 7.5mm if im not mistaken... but you can use a 5mm instead of the 7.5mm

If your going to the trubble of changing the colour you might as well get new bulbs
the newer ones should be brighter
I noticed my jdm cluster with lower km's was slightly brighter then my stock one with 275,000 km's on it
but JDM dosent have adjustable dimming so maybe thats got sumthang to do with it???

mine were a light greenish colour, had faded blue condoms on em, i think yours must either be totally faded or removed freek.
i replaced all my bulbs at first with purple lights but it came out dull pink so then i used bright blue leds that come with the wedge base i got from america, its quite bright but not even cos there asr different sizes and so i used a couple of normal blue bulbs too, i also replaced all the bulbs behind the climate control with blue leds, and the lights on top of the cluster with a uv neon and painted the needle with uv reactive paint.. took ages and pissed me of no end and got me a defect in the process but i really like the end result... will try to get pics if you want.
easiest way it just buy 5 wedge bulbs 3x 5mm and 2x smaller ones it wont be the brightest if you dont use any led ones but i couldnt find the small ones in led type so it can be even dull or eneven bright or you could make the small ones led..

when u winded the odo back, did u need to re-adjust your speedo needle? and did u need to re-adjust the needle when u took the speedo out? coz i herd you need to re adjust it coz it will show the worng speed :P

and instead of buying the condoms for it, can i just buy new lights :S
