Hi there,

It isn't obvious to me how to get the stock headunit out.
I assume you have to take the fascia off to get access to the clips.

But how do you get the fascia off (without leaving little screwdriver marks everywhere!)

The Honda (UK) website and online manuals are no help :(

Thanks,
Nick

The first thing you need to do is remove the section that surrounds the handbrake (from memory it just clips in). Then you need to undo the screws that surround the shifter and take out the entire bottom section. From there you need to take out the plastic bellow the radio (there are a number of screws to remove including one under the cigarette lighter and one on the inside/next to the glove box). Just keep working up and work slowly and you will find all the screws/clips. If you are in desperate need I may have a diy but just let me know.

Thanks, it worked a treat

The radio is held in at the rear only.
There are 2 screws on the bottom rear of the radio unit that tighten up against a little flange on the dash assembly.
..Just a walk in the park

But now how do I put my "you beaut" head unit in?
Do I buy some kind of Honda-to-standard ISO fitting adapter?

I can easily make up a ghetto-harness to do the wiring conversion.

Thanks again,
Regards,
Nick

Here's a link to a pictorial guide for removal of the old radio, wiring diagrams and installation of a new one. Hope it helps, just download the PDF for the EK.

Thanks for the excellent link.

Where do I get the install kit from?
I tried Strathfield Car Radios and AutoOne with no luck.

the installation kit installdr refer to is just the cage that comes with your headunit. if your new headunit came with the cage, thats all you need.
firstly get all the wiring done
reinstall all panels
slide cage into the stock headunit din
plug in the connectors to the new headunit
slide new headunit in to cage
and your pumping =)

Ahh, there's my problem right there!

I only have the headunit, there is no cage.

Had to close one or the other of your threads, this one seemed to be solved :)

You might also want to invest in a radio loom adaptor like the one in the Install Dr tutorial, they are model specific adaptors that plug into the factory loom and then connect to the loom at the back of the radio, they should cost about 20 bucks from somewhere like repco.
