I thought the same thing, but Drive isn;t often wrong on these issues. I am sure there are websites with real answers.

I actually believe the ADM Type Rs had the 4.4, whilst the JDM had the 4.785. Since we had slightly less power, we get the better accelerating diff, and the Japanese had the slaightly longer one with more power... Probably wrong, but picked that up from somewhere

wrong it's 4.7

pulled one out and counted it already

Well, unless its a JDM diff, I'm confused.
I'll have to find the spec sheets from honda I have around here somewhere now. I always thought it was 4.4

It's 4.7. Spec sheet says 4.4 though.

From what I remember a guy who pulled the FD out said that the crown wheel has 67 teeth and pinion gear has 14 teeth.

67/14 = 4.785

Interesting.
Wonder what had the 4.4 then....

i have one and its definately 4.7 came of an aussie ITR. If it was a 4.4 i should be able to hit 60 in 1st and 100 in 2nd.

But with the 4.7 i can only hit 55 in 1st and 90 in 2nd gear.

Interesting.
One for the memory.

My prelude has a 4.785 final drive as well....
But my gears are a lot taller...
1st - 2nd - 61km/h
2nd - 3rd - 109km/hr
3rd -4th 145km/hr
4th - 5th 180km/hr
top speed 238km/hr - according to the maths, have only gotten to 225

final drive is 4.785

I too can confirm its 4.7... pretty much all documentation such as drive.com.au says 4.4 though. The only place I have actually found 4.7 documented was in one of the original Honda DC2R brochures.
