Any differences in parts? B16A is in an EG6 btw..

When I mean differences I mean with oil filters etc etc

Cheers guys :D

hm..

well parts as in the dizzy and stuff r different as i had trouble sourcing them for my car

cuz the JDM engines r suppose to run on 100 octance obviously they r tuned for higher octane
also the JDM engines have higher compression ratios and make more power

Yeah but you dont change a dizzy every 5000 k's.. I mean just little minor things. Obviously because it's an import they will always dick you about with other things, but generally i'm assuming most parts are interchangeable..

Danny - Have you changed the oil filter yet? Can you just get a standard Repco/Honda/EK VTiR one?? Shit I hope you dont need a special EG6 one that has some funky threading on it and needs special oil rofl

i had the jdm b16a in my eh9
i used the repco oilfilter all the time

my dizzy had a hole in it and it was earthing outside the dizzy.. made the car sound like it was running on 3 cylinders... anyway i used the AUS crx b16a dizzy and it worked fine...

all i know is the knock sensors are different... and the o2 sensor is in a different position

Wat I found out about a JDM B16A is that it has a smaller throttle body opening. :o

Measured da JDM B16A opening wit a vernier caliper against my B16A2 and mine was a little larger!

That may have been a series 1 JDM b16A which had a 58mm throttle body. The series 2 JDM had a 60mm TB same as Aus spec. Yours being a late model may have slightly different entrance taper, measure actual throttle body with verniers on the back side as they are usually not long enough to measure diameter from entrance side. The biggest difference between the two engines is the pistons, the JDM has higher dome height on the pistons. 10.4 vs 10.2:1.

10:4:1?

JDM B16a?

Yeah the compression ration of the Jap spec B16A is 10.4:1 and the timing is also a little more agressive giving around 170hp

yes...thought so

also the fuel octance has to b 100 to give 170HP

Not really, you just need to make sure there is no detonation/knocking that starts the ECU pulling back the timing. Calorific value of 100 octane is probably no higher than 96/98 octane. Once again there is conservative honda tuning and a JDM B16A seems more than happy on Aus diet of premium or optimax. Remember, 10.4:1 is the static CR. The dynamic CR when on vtec decreases with the significant increase in overlap. That is why with big cams you can use what seems to be very high compression.

yes...very intresting i felt my car go better with BOOSTERS

i never added octance boost.. just used optimax
and i had no knock sensor either and it seemed fine!
