Hey
My brakes are squeeking whilst I'm driving but when I look at the pads there's like 0.5-1cm of brake pad left.. does anyone know if its time to change? Should I bother with taking it apart and sand both the old pads and disc and put it back together or may aswell change to new pads?
Thanks!

usually the squeaking is from the steal indicators which, when exposed due to
wear of the pads, will rub on the disk and cause squeaking
time to change the pads by the sound of it dude

When you look at the pads from an angel do you look at the grey/silver bit or including the black bit aswell?
It it possible for rocks etc to somehow find its way in between the disc and pads?

Yes, small rocks/gravel is a possiblity. Probably the niggest single cause of rotor grooving.
Just remove that one bolt swing the pads back and have a look, Takes 10mins each.
Is it a metal on metal sound, or feel a slight grinding feel from the pedal -Replace Pads.
High pitched squeal - Is probably just a greasy finger print on the rotor, Wipe down with metho.
Goodluck.
