View Full Version : [Euro]Glovebox not flush on right side

This may be a minor issue:
My front luggage drawer when closed, is not flushed to the dash. ie : the right hand side of the top corner of the drawer is poking out a bit.
I haven't mentioned to the dealer. Just wondering if anyone has made any warranty claimed?
Also, i noticed the left hand side of the dash (the join line next to the center aircon vent) is starting to expand. It is protruding out more than the righ hand side joint. It is just not flushed. Maybe i shouldn't be too paranoid about it.

Mine is close to 100% flush but the annoying problem with my glovebox is that it rattles all the time. I know a Honda mechanic in Melb and he mentioned that it is a frequent issue for the Euro. It was "replaced" once but is still recurring. Does anyone have this problem as well ?

I have no issues with the fit of the Euro so I don't see why you have to compensate. The rattle that kenbo mentions may be the noise I occasionally hear, seems to depend on the ambient temperature too.

I have had the same issue with the glove box lid. The dealer did adjust it at one of the services but it really did not cure the issue. I will be asking again at the next service to get the issue resolved. Get it fixed under warranty, you are entitled to.

Same for me, the right side of the glove box is further out by a small bit. I don't worry about it. If you want to even it, just put some foam tape on the left side so that the right side gets pulled in.
Just checked. My center console is level with the dash on the left, but on the right the console is a bit further out, less than 0.5mm. No problem. I don't think it's a defect. Just that both sides of the dash are of different shapes, so the level is slightly different.
And renamed your thread for you.

my old 05 auto lux was pretty bad, the right side of the glove box didnt sit well at all, pretty big gap.
my new euro is much better, still a slight gap but nothing i worry about, the coin compartment rattles a fair bit though and it gets irritating.

Is that with coins in it or without?

i agree, my glovebox has a constant buzzing rattle that i think is a panel fit problem and the coin compartment rattle has the same issue if the roads are coarse.
My theory is that there is too much vibration being transferred from ;
1. The engine bay - i had some issues with the engine mount and one was replaced. Still not acceptable for Honda standards IMO.
2. The suspension is firm and does not soak up enough bumps and hence the energy travels thru the chassis and rattles the cockpit.

Well, for a $34500 car, we are expecting $70,000 BMW level out of it. Hehe. But yeah, the rattles are pretty bad. My dad's CD Accord which is turning 13 next year has less rattles.

with coins.
I put my hand to stabilise it when it starts to rattle.

Well it may be finished like a $35K car but the fit and finish rivals the 3 Series. I'd buy this anyday to a 3 series. I drove a 3 series on a long trip and to be honest was very average.
In any case we are talking about a Honda badge here, not Ford, Holden, Mazda, Kia, etc....Hondas are probably the best build cars from Japan. i had 4 previous Honda (1 still with me) and they dont rattle like this.

Hehe, same as mine. It's the coins and the stiff suspension's fault. More expensive suspension setups give stiffness AND bump absorption. I don't keep coins in my coin holder now. :o

Hate to say this, but my friend's 10 year old Lexus ES has less rattles than my 1 year old Euro. Oh well.. But I noticed that the plastics used in the Euro are harder and stiffer compared to the softer plastic and cushiony bits on the CD Accord. I think that's the drawback of using recycled plastics.

Gee, i didn't expect to have that many posts overnight!
I will mention it to the dealer when i get my car service next, it wont be a while though. This is a minor issue but i do expect the fittings to be quite perfect for a new car. I do understand plastics can warped in the sun and age. I guess we are all expecting perfect condition from a new car. Yes other brand may have even worse fittings than the accord.
Thanks for all those who had shared their experiences. :)

Mine 2003 Euro 's grovebox sit flush with the dash, the steering wheel leather behind the LHS audio control buttons stick up just a little bit, but not enough to bother me.. the RHS part behind cruise control is perfectly flush.
coins in the holder rattle when there are too many of them stack on each others. but all good when there is no coin inside... so sometimes it is good to have no money.
I agree with arronng, my mum's 1994 1st generation ES300 still has no rattling noise.. I hope my Euro will be the same.

This is my first Honda and I am delighted. I have been a French car enthusiast for a long time but the latest versions were down on quality control. The Accord was just way ahead of fit, finish, handling, presence, and value for money. I have been able to compare the Euro Accord cabin with a recent drive in an E type Mercedes Benz and they are near identical in materials and style. In fact the Accord has "borrowed" the air vent design from the Merc.

I had the same problem with my new '04 Euro. It was fixed under warranty. In regards to warranty, apart from the minor problem with the glove box, no other fixes required and no rattles to date. The car has travelled a hard 30,000kms in just over 12 months.
A great car. Better than my previous (also brought new) BMW 318i.
Cheers

I had the same problem got the dealer to fix it when i gave my car in for the 10 k service, 2 weeks later the same thing happened i gave it in got it fixed again. I have a feeling the glove box cannot take much weight especially the honda leather case we get. I have removed the leather case since and do not put much stuff in there. It has not dropped since.

I tried emptying everything but the constant buzzing and creaking is giving me the irrites. I think there is some design flaw. Surely the glovebox can take a book or two. Very dissapointing for an otherwise supperb packaged car.
