Engine: D16a8 Car 88 Gen 2 CRX
i've got this re-occuring fault.. and yeh lookin @ the error code guide it says O2 sensor..
and then referrin to workshop manual trouble shooting process goes as follows
-> check fuel pressure reg [Bad: replace. Good: next step]
-> check o2 sensor voltage [Bad: replace. Good: next step]
-> check wiring to ECU [Bad: resolder. Good: next step]
-> replace ECU with a known working unit..

tested the pressure reg already .. i'm sure it's workin fine..
if lets say the o2 sensor and the ECU + wiring are ok.. what could be the problem causing the error light to come on???

Also having hesitation symptoms @ 2000rpm... only on low speeds..
-TPS[throttle pos. sensor/throt ang. sensor] fault???? altho error code 7 doesn't flash..
-Fuel related [soon to check fuel filter]

or is this that common problem with the d16a8 Dizzy's that benjammin refered to in a previous post...???
any help would be great.. *looks @ PROECU/Benjammin/wynode*thanks

It's your #1 O2 sensor.

I'd replace both sensors with new ones.

reoccurs after the ECU is reset (to clear the code) ?
Perhaps cat is faulty ? or Blocked airfilter ? *guesses*

Wait for one of the ECU guys to have a punt !

*EDIT as above*

It's also very important to not mix up which sensor goes where, as the ECU uses these sensors to monitor groups of 2 cylinder mixtures independant from the other two cylinders.

replace with oem? i know ngk also makes o2 sensors for my car... how would they fare??
ben: yes re-occurs after ecu reset..
ProECU: would faulty o2 sensors be a cause of the engine hesitation.
[or maybe i can answer my own question]
"o2 sensor tells the ecu how well the a/f mixture ignited which lets the ecu to decide how much air to and fuel is needed for the next combustion..therefore if the o2 sensor is giving false readings, the result would be a muddled up a/f mixture for the following combustion"
and that would cause my hesitation??
that's what i think it would be..am i right?

yes, correct.

not sure about NGK, if theyre a direct swap & they're cheaper give em a go.

AUDM 88 CRX only has a Primary Oxygen sensor,

you have to remove the exhaust manifold from the car to remove it. lots of fun

NGK O2 sensors are really good.

you will have to make the connector from your old sensor fit the new sensor.

before buying a new sensor , try to find a mate who has the exact same car as you and isnt throwign the same code - maybe if its not too much hassle try swapping o2 sensors , reset ECU and clarify it is the o2 ? :)

ECU-MAN: i thought so, didn't see any indications of a secondary one.. u sure ex man. needs to be taken off?????? :( noooo...

ben: sounds like a good idea.. but if it involves rem. the ex man. .. wow..
=P

nah thanks again shouldnt b any probs... let u guys kno how it goes
