Hey guys
Tried searchin for this but nothin...
basically some of u know im wanting to get 19". Im thinkin about gettin 19x8.5 all round. few questions pop into my head though
1) what sort of tyre profile can i expect? 225/35/R19? i want 40 but im happy with 35. wat about width? 215? 245?
2) also, offset im plannin to get between +43 and +45. this is sufficient yeah?
3) what load rate should it be? 91?
I emailed the guys at tyres.com for some quotes on a rim 19x8.5 and 19x9.5.....their reply was "you will need to fit 18x7.5 or 19x7.5 rims. 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 are too wide for your car"
But ive seen it done.....and im wanting to get it done as well.......if anyone can answer the above questions, itd be appreciated.

Ive fitted mine with 19's as you saw on the cruise. Specs are as follows.
- +45 offset
- 19x8
- 225/35/19
I was able to drop the car 3" at the rear and 2.5" at the front but the rear guards needed rolling.

Go for :
19 x 8.5 (225/35) - offset Lowest 40
Offset recommended 45
19 x 9.5 (235/35) - offset Lowest 35
Offset recommended 40
dont forget your lowering kit as well .. and drop it 4" .. hehe ... :P

ahh i was hopin u'd reply genk.
im thinkin goin 225/35/R19 all round with offset +45. 19x8.5
any rubbing concerns?

lol @ genk-jomblo - you are nuts man :p
stephen8512 if you take these "recommended" figures do some research first. There are plenty of threads where people talk about why low offsets and very wide rims are a bad idea on the Euro. Unless you are getting light forged rims 19x9.5 is just ridiculous - it is going to be very heavy and put major stress on bearings and suspension components.
Also - these tyre shops are not idiots - they recommended to you 7.5" for a reason. Legal reasons comes to mind as a start  You can still fit 235 on a 7.5". I also definately don't think different sized tyres (ie 225 front, 235 rear) are a good idea either.

yeah yoram i totally know where ur comin from
19x7.5's was my original choice but the reason im askin is cuz that the rims i want dont come in 7.5s. either in 8.5s or 9's
i remember Pum[Z] had HP design chromies on his black mugen kitted euro dropped with DC coilovers and it was 19x9 with no guards being rolled. he also said that there was no rubbing.
yeah i tried searchin on TSX @ acurazine and TSXCLUB.com but most of them dont have chromies.
reason im asking is just to be sure :D. im sure it can be done, but not if it will put major stress on my parts and the legal issue also comes up again.....

Hey Steve,
I reckon go the 8.5" wide, but as I told you at the meet last thursday, if you plan to go as low as I did, be warned that you will need to roll your rear guards.
reason im asking is just to be sure :D. im sure it can be done, but not if it will put major stress on my parts and the legal issue also comes up again.....
Sure -it can be done as the wheel arches are huge. As for stress it is hard to calculate - try your best to get a high offset 45+. Remember these cast chromie 19x9 rims you are talking about can weigh 14kg+. Your car is designed for rims that are 8kg per corner. Whilst Hondas are built well - you are adding stress. (What about billet rims? They are blingy and I believe they are lighter - not quite forged light but still lighter)
As for legalities - speak to the RTA in your state.

Dude i say go all the way, dont worry about the cops, im used to it personally with my other car. Im currently thinking about fitting 20's or 21's on the Euro

I can understand how you can make that call in your own car - but if there is a problem down the track what responsibility do you have? What would you say to Stephen - "oh, I haven't been picked up before - that is really unlucky."
Anyway Stephen - as you are in NSW look at this- it is quite strict in NSW and worth knowing so you can make an informed decision:

thanks everyone for ur input
peter, u thinkin bout sellin the gestalts?
yoram, thanks for that. will def. use that as a guide when im buyin the rims (possibly in another 3 weeks or thereabouts)
ZYL11A
22-11-2005, 02:21 PM
Steven, wont be selling the Gestalts just yet. I should be picking up the new rims for the Legend this week so as such I will leave the Euro for a little while to be able to finish of the Legend. After all, the Euro is just my daily driver which I dont really care as much about. The legend is the one that gets all my attention and my money. Gotta get it finished soon and ready for show

i just put a new set of 19x8 inch,
The rim offset is +43 and the load rate is 91..
It has 235/35 tyres front and back. have no problem with it.
I tried to do some calculation for the wheel diameter
205/55/16 = 63.19cm (standard)
225/45/17 = 63.43cm (Standard Lux MY05)
225/40/18 = 63.72cm
225/35/19 = 64.01cm
235/35/19 = 64.71cm
245/35/19 = 65.41cm
225/40/19 = 66.26cm
(please correct me if im wrong)
IMO you cant fit 245 at the front. but you can try hehe..
i saw some people put 245 at the back though
cheers

If the above data is accurate, fitting any 19" + wheels will make your speedo overclocks excessively - as a result, your mileage on odometer will run out quicker than actual distance travelled ... only if you care about resale value of your car that is ...

Wrong way around - these diameters show the speedo displaying a slower speed - ie take the extreme example of 225/40/19 - the stock car will show 100kph - the modded one will show 95.3.

with my previous recommendation then you need :
1. Roll the fender (normally happened when you put wider rims, say wider than 8.5)
Notes : If you dont want to roll your fender = impossible to put wider rims.
2. once "roll" job been done mine doesn't rub at all.
3. Lower = Get more attention

Yes, my bad! My maths sucks :p
But that is exactly we I wanted to say - 5km/h slower on speedo will be enough to attract more speeding tickets and demerit points ... :D

Yeah -225/40/19 isn't the best size on that list. There are others which don't impact diameter as much. I am on 235/45/17 - which sounds like a major impact on diameter but it is only 1.8% different (slower). In fact going to different tyres gives the opportunity to bring the speedo closer to "true" road speed.
If you look at the magazine reviews the Euro when indicating 100kph is actually travelling at 96kph.
So even if you change the overall diameter by 3% you will not have any speeding fine problems - your speedo will be more accurate. Funny logic - but hope you see my point.

Hey man,
I'm running Alexis Jestlat 2's with a 43+ offset (machined) 19 8.0x with 235/35/19 with around a 4 inch drop! Sits at the rim at the back & on the tire at the front.
You wont have any problems if you do it right! I never get any rubbing even with a full car load! cornering or whatever!
check out how low she is with 19. 8.0x on 235/35/19ns
pics are here!! --> http://tknova.onfinite.com/album/482045/?PHPSESSID=11d14b18f6dee4fc6edfe447ca35a2ad

hey TKNOVA, thats exactly how i want my euro......but mines got a kit so it wont be too much of an aggressive drop like urs but damn! looks hot!
where did u get urs done?
tknova
22-11-2005, 09:02 PM
Thanks for the thumbs up! I went for the no kit option so i can drop it real low! :)
I dropped it at Suspension Center in sunshine in Melbourne.
Need a camber kit tho! so you can atleast run -2 camber & not -4 with heaps of toe. Without my camber kit i scrubbed the tyre in 7,000km's With the good camber kit the wear is not even noticable.
Just make sure your offset is correct & you can easily run 235/3519's
just machiene your wheels just a touch if u need too.

TKNOVA, are you sure its a 4" drop? Cause mine is 3" at the rear and 2.5" and the drop looks identical to yours, exactly the way it sits. Stephen saw the car at the meet last thursday. I have a camber kit installed and running -1.7
It could possibly be the angle the pictures are taken I think.
My rims are going in next week to get machined, I think they are going to shave 2-3 mm off the rims

Wow .. I wish I can drop it 4".
but i'm sure my kit will kiss the road. ...

so far i havent done anything that required me to go to a workshop (besides bodykit)
its been all DIY for the time being.
when i get my teins, exhaust and rims i'll prob head over to IS MOTORACING

Hey, lovely car!! :) Clean & low with nice wheels! Yeah, once the wheels are machined you will have no problems!! I havn't had one bit of rubbing at all on mine (no guards rolled either)
I'm pretty sure the drop was 4 inches? maybe it's 3 & a half! My drop is identical all around so the car sits level & low. The pics earlier are with an empty tank.. When shees full you can't see the top of the tire, just the rim :)
Very nice ride & i see you have the new jestalts! I was ganna put them on but i thought the older style had a more agressive look!! But i still like very much! :) I wish i was in Sydney!! A cruise would of been called for! :P

i only just saw this thread! damnit stephen your getting some lightweight 18's from rays engineering (i.e. volks). Scrap the 19's idea, pleeeeease :o
no matter what your car will still be damn nice - i'm just trying to live out my dreams through you like a pushy parent lol :p

27-11-2005, 09:29 AM
:D "my boys gonna make it" haha - cant wait to see what you got planned..
i recon a 1.5"-2" drop all round is a good idea too btw. My drop is a bit under 2" all round and even that is verging on impractical with the oem kit (and lower arm bar), mugen bar would only make things worse.

just wondering stefen, how low is your car now with your stock rims ? 7 fingers to the ground ?
stephen8512
27-11-2005, 09:50 AM
my car atm.....
front is about 5-5.5 finger gap and the rear about a 4.5-5 finger gap
chris i plan to get the Super Streets from a trader here cuz apparently the FLEX isnt legal in Australia according to TEIN AUSTRALIA. Hmm wonder why that might be
but the SS and FLEX are exactly the same is it not? function wise? u can adjust damper and height like flex but u cant have the EDFC. Chris?

there's a few subtle differences between SS and flex. flex has pillow ball mounts and hieght can be adjusted without affecting spring rates (something to do with having two points of adjustments). Maybe this extra adjustability is what makes them illegal in australia? one point of the coilover may have to be fixed to be deamed legal? not 100% sure.
if you plan on getting the EDFC, good news man, it'll work on the tein SS :D. It's only the slightly different tsx spec ss that won't work with the edfc.
I bought my SS through fulcrum (official australian distributor) and the spring rates are 8k front 6k rear from memory which is softer than the tsx equivalent and more suited to australian roads and the lighter weight of our euros over here.
If you plan on dropping the car around 2" or less the SS is a great choice, i'm really happy with the performance of mine and because of the slightly lower spring rates they can be adjusted to be just as comfortable as stock if they need to be.
stephen8512
27-11-2005, 10:23 AM
thanks for the tip chris! i thought EDFC is only compatible with FLEX.....at least thats what it said on te site.......hmmmm
hehehe SUPER STREETS IT IS!!!!!!!
wow that cuts my time in half......i'll prob get these 2 weeks from now!!!
Chris_F
27-11-2005, 10:31 AM
no worries.
2 weeks, nice! might be a good idea to order a camber kit aswell, the rear of the euro starts getting some serious negative camber at anymore than a 1.5" drop.

can't wait to see the finished product!
