Actually they can be found anywhere. You dont need an expensive light weight one, just a normal helmet I use passes each time when i get scruitineered.

does yours have some level of certification or something (Like AS2000 or whatever it is?). And thats for MC scrutineering yeah? I know the motorplex they accept anything but never gone through MC scrutineering.

sorry bout the "how much" post mate, should read forum announcments i guess.

MC are fine mate, The Motorplex are the ones who check the helmet more thoroughly.
The one i use is just a basic glossy round black thing like those worn by Harley Davidson bikies :P

hehe

As long as its not a stackhat or a bike helmet you'll be ok.

yeah Motorplex are nazi when it comes to helmets.. my 'current' helmet is a good-condition ARAI motorbike helmet. it has NO damage or wear and it is still fitted with the Aust Standards decals etc.. BUT the decals are from 1976.. so APPARENTLY it's not legal for use there. YES it's an old helmet, but it's hardly ever been used and it DOES carry all official standards type crap and as far as I know that standard is still current.

It depends who scruitineers your helmet..

maybe drive down to Prestige Honda as well - they have a wide range of 'bike' helmets there too. You might be able to get a discount as well...

I got mine from Cash Converters - but needed to make sure there were no cracks or scuffs. Ive seen some dodgy helmets being sold there. Got mine for $50.

I dont reccomend buying a used helmet for motorsport use.. even though my helmet is my Dad's from the 70's, I still know the history of the helmet and I know it hasnt ever been in a stack (etc) and know it ahs hardly been used etc.

Presige HONDA for helmets is good idea - or any other motorbike shop.

I don't recommend getting one from cashies either...but when you're stuck for cash and need a helmet, a good and checked helmet for $50 will do. Id never take it on a bike - purely within the car.....

definatelly go visit Prestige :)
