A have been a member for a while.. i am also a member of various other forums, and have also studyied some user interaction.. bla bla bla.. anywya here are some suggestions.

1) Create a 'Worklogs' forums. Much like the one on OCAU. Where people start a thread about their cars and do posts in the thread on what mods they have done to the car etc. Little write ups for the mods they do etc. This would be good to spread information throughout the community that may not be mentioned through conventional means..

2) Create a 'The Lounge' section and a 'General Honda Topic' section. I find it stupid that we have a section where people are posting videos of hot chicks as well as questions about what models have vtec etc. The topics dont match. Also by making two seperate 'general' forums it should reduce the ammount of people posting questions like 'which hondas have vtec' in say the 'civic' forum because they think semi technical honda questions dont belong in 'the lounge'

3) Do something about the sponsors section. It is not easy to just browse through the latest posted items for sale. If i wanted to do that i would have to open a new window for each sponsor.. way too many clicks and too much hassle. I would suggest a new layout. That has say the newest 10to20 sponsor posts at the top.. then a whole list of the sponsor subsections below it.. Basically i like the idea of browsing through the latest items for sale...

4) Dont be close/lock nazis... I think it is poor form because it reduces information flow. I often see a question where the original topic is answered so it is then a race as to which mod can lock the topic first. What i like about forums is the freedom of information, locking a thread limits this. It is often good if a topic goes off on a tangent from the original question IF the original question has been answered. This is because it gives the users/members oppurtunity to learn informationt that they may not originally set out to find out.

hopefully you take my suggestions into consideration,

cheers,

-Dxs/Dan

i think he is on to something, i particularly like the last paragraph... all too late i stumble across threads which have been locked and i have a small question about part of it, or where it leads, which is not worthy of starting a new thread for. :(

and yes, please try something about the lounge... its fun there, but like he has suggested, hot chick soft porn shouldnt sit next to some of the semi tech material.

i totally agree with the lounge section - keeping all "crap" in a "offtopic arena" and all other general discussions in a more suited "lounge" :)

Most threads that get locked up are so in prevention of further bandwidth abuse ( ie SPAM)...or simply nothing more can be said.

by all means if you want some input into a thread please PM a mod and get it re-opened and keep the fire alight :)

2 and 3 are great ideas. Definitly 2.

As far as closing threads go, as said, PM a mod if you feel there is more to be said.

i like idea 2 and 3 as well, and agree with the mods on option 4. Even though i agree with your logic and reasoning, the problem is, once it gets out of hand, for newcomers in for example, a year's time, who come and search the forum for an answer to their question may have to sift through so many pages before they get an answer that they're happy with. Just makes it easier, rather than sifting through pages (if it comes to that) of replies for an answer.

totally agree with the thread locking thing.. people say search, but if the topic has been locked and you want to know a little more, or have a question about it, you cant use the current thread(because its been locked)... and whos going to pm a mod , its quicker to start a new thread, than wait for it to be re-opened, particulary if your in a rush and need a quick answer...

Have a look down the bottom of the main page where it tell you whos online. Anyone that appears green is a mod. Just PM them, and as they are currently on OZHonda it should be a matter of minutes until it is opened. Make sure you include a link to the post too, to make the process even quicker.
