Here is a pic of it, it's next to the distributor on the engine itself, we are looking at the green plug btw:

lol anyway the point of the question is, what is it and what does it do, and is it bad if it's not plugged in, my one on my engine the clip on the plug is snapped and so it unplugs itself while driving, thing is plugged in or not it doesn't seem to make a difference. allthough whats left of the plug its self is really chatty so even when i plug it on it might not even be connected.. anyway the car still comes on vtec and what not with or without it on.. I just would really like to know whether i should be bother fixing it or not.. thanks for the help guys and gals

ok I'm like 99% sure its the vtec pressure switch, i read that if this switch isn't hooked on then fuel will be limited to the engine, there for that could be a cause of the engine not wanting to rev all the way out to redline like it would usually.... hrm.. That's all i've come up with so far, is this true at all? Any help would be great thanx..

hmm i'll have a looksy tonight, but I think mine has that plug there also but as i've done engine swap, there is no corresponding sensor to plug it into..so I'm not sure.

No check engine light at all, lol I fixed up the sucka today and now the thing just wants to rev and rev and rev lol. If you have this sensor on the engine, it would be a good idea to make sure its hooked up and working correctly, i think if it's not plugged in / not working the ecu should throw a code, but the engine light wont come on. Before i fixed it the car comes onto vtec but as the revs climbed it didn't seem to produce much more power than the initial kick into vtec. Now that its hooked up my car hits vtec and then just keeps pushing me back into the seat all the way to 9K rpms..

congrats - was it just a wiring issue?

Thats interesting, cause on my engine that bit is blocked off. I'm currently helping a mate doing his engine conversion and he has it on the engine he got. We were planing to egnore it, since there is no plug on his harness for it. Guess we'll see what happens when we start his engine.

newer OBDii systems dont use the green plug...

hmmm, mines an obd2 engine... but mine is an import gsr motor not the aussie released one... When the plug wasn't on all that it did was supposedly cut back on the fuel it lets to the motor which meant the engine wasn't reving as hard or as quickly as it should.. when i re hooked it up on my motor i could feel a big difference, it used to be pointless reving past 7K rpms coz you could feel it stopped making power, i even have a dyno print out showing my power stop climbing at 7K, now its back on i'm reving it to 8 and a half and it feels like it still wants to keep reving.. I'm going for another power run in a week or 2 i'll post up both of my dyno sheets to show ya's if you guys want.. see if it really does make a difference or if i'm just imagining it :D

sounds like vtec wasn't working at all

I think tinkerbell is on the money. But you are also correct, my mates engine is JDM which explains the green plug. And since my is AUDM no green plug. But since his gonna be using a AUDM ecu i'd say it's safe to egnore it. JDM ecu must look for the singal still.

OBDII JDM B18C dont have Vtec Pressure Switch
