Yea my DC2 got hit today, just then, from the rear.
Looks like only paint damage.
I dont need to go through insurance do I ?
The guy said no point because his excess is $800 and probably won't come to that much.

Yeah I agree with Steve. If you can sort it out privately, do so. It'll save you hassles with paperwork etc, and also give you some room to negotiate/move with him in relation to the fix up.Go around and grab a few quotes from local panel shops and work from there.

Alright cool, I didn't really want to go through insurance either but just want to make sure there wouldn't be any loose ends. Thanks guys.

if you go through insurance you are guaranteed your car will be perfect.....you have no recourse otherwise...

I was just wondering, I don't want any problems down the track.
Could this have affected anything else ? It was only a slight bump but I was wondering if it could have affected my boot or any other part of the car ?

Most unlikely but check if your rear bumper is sagging or getting loose by lifting it up and down.....a bump usually poushes it in or rises it up so there might be problems with sag or something.....but if you find it out....you can get it fixed and never look at it again.

The bumper on the right side (where it got hit) is pushed in slightly, a few mm's.

Go ghetto, I used tape to repair my crack :P
Money is better spent elsewhere on vehicle than minor body repairs hehehe

Well the guy is paying for it not me, he's the one that hit me, and I would prefer to fix it up rather then get a quote take a few hundred off him and do something else.

make sure you get it checked out by a reputatble panel beater (or a couple for that matter). They should be able to tell you if its just cosmetic damage or if its something more serious.

g'luck with it!
