i just bought two new "Venom" smoke faced gauges
1. water temp gauge
2. voltmeter

im having a few problems with installation
with the water temp gauge im wondering if i can install the sensor in place of the original sensor. i have heard that you cant do this... but having only a d16y4 im not sure if that sensor is completely necessary
also with both gauges there is a wire im not completely sure what its to be connected too... it is an orange wire which the simple wiring diagram (oh and i mean simple... there are a near no real instructions) shows to b connected thru some switch to the battery, and has wat looks like a light globe hanging off the wire. i have come to the conclusion that it can b only two things... the wire for the dimmer or for a parking light switch

any help or suggestions would b greatly appreciated

cheers

volt metre you shoukd connect it to the batery as a 12v source as this will give more accurate readings.

As for the water temp, just buy a T piece from one of the hosing stores like pirtek. Simply disconnected the old sensor and connect the T piece on and add the new and old sensor.

And for the orange wire i have no idea.

Remember to find a good grounding point. Battery would be ideal.

Hope this helps

maybe the orange wire goes to battery and the switch could be a fuse

just a thought
