Amplifier Question

hey all,

currently i have 2x12inch subs and 1x 4chanel amp..

i was just wondering what the 2nd amp i need to buy would be.. whether its mono block, 2 chanel, etc,

currently i have infinity splits/tweeters, infinity 6x9s, 2 x12 inch R.Fosgate Subs, so i will need another amp..

woulda appreciate any insight anyone can give me.

are ur subs DVC? do u know how many ohms is each of ur voice coils?

generally bridge 4 channel to power fronts and get a dedicated mono sub amp to suit the subs would be the way i'd go (running rears off the head unit). Specific amp would be dependant on what load you subs can present, and what you want to achieve.

if ur sub's voice coils are 4ohms each then this it the amp for u

its 1ohm stable :D but u'll be runnign it at 2ohms

Well if you already have a 4 Channel amplifier, now use that for your fronts and rears. Your second amplifier would be a monoblock amplifier, definitely not a 2 channel amplifier. The second amplifier would obviously run your 2 subwoofers.

A few things, find out for sure what coils you have on your subs,(if you have a model # post it up) you dont want to be buying something based on "pretty sures" you'll likely buy the wrong product and not get the enjoyment you hoped for out of it.

What is the 4ch amp you currently have(MODEL #)?

Do you have a budget?

GIve us this info and I am sure we can point you in the right direction.

the 4 channel i have at the moment is an Infinity Reference Series. it is a 7540a.

some have told me they are good, and some are not happy with them, but just for running the speakers in the car i havent had a problem with it.

im lookin at spending around the 500 mark
