Hi All,
I know turbo questions have been done to death....
But I am looking at turbo charging my '91 Integra (B18A?) but because of chronic shoulder problems a manual gearbox is out of the question, for me.... Sad but true..
Will the stock auto gearbox be able to cope with the extra torque that the eventual turbo will add to my engine?
Thanks

The gearbox isn’t the problem, its tuning the engine on automatic car’s which is the problem.
Iv yet 2 see any stable, and reliable method, which controls the engine absolutely on a automatic boosted Honda. The problem comes from the standard ECU not being designed in stock form to run boost, and you need to use the standard ECU to control the automatic box, this is where the problem is.
Strength wise, iv seen 1 broken Honda auto gear box, for every 20 broken manual boxes, so there very strong, the problem is tuning the engine !!

I don't know much about OBD1 programming hence my asking...
Can hondata and other similar units not allow the standard computer to continue to operate the auto gearbox? Am I missing the obvious here?

Is there any ECU on the market that will let me run a turbo with an auto gearbox? It sounds like something that would be out there, i'll have to do some legwork and find out...
Thanks James

There is NO OBD1 Programming option available anywhere in the world that I’m aware of that allows you to tune a automatic Honda ECU / Honda Automatic Gearbox.
I’m also unaware of any aftermarket ECU that can fully replace the Honda ECU and still control the automatic gear box. theoretically you might be able to use a Motec ECU as a piggyback ECU on top of the Standard ECU controlling the gearbox but even then I bet the standard ECU will complain because it won’t be controlling everything directly.
Manual box = car can be tuned, n say hello to performance
Auto box = forget about having your car as a performance car
